The Arc of Fort Bend County The Arc ensures opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to maximize their quality of life within our community.

The Arc provides information and referral services. Our knowledgeable staff can discuss a variety of issues with families or refer you to more appropriate sources. We facilitate informational meetings to explore timely topics and provide one-on-one support. We can guide you through our office brochures and website where we maintain hundreds of information resources. The Arc provides a staff member Educational Advocate to educate parents and assist them with school ARDs (Admission, Review, Dismissal committee). We ensure students are enrolled in special education services, recieve FAPE (Free and Appropriate Public Education), and the school follows IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) guidelines. The Arc leases commercial buildings to qualified providers who develop and implement job training, coaching, employment programs, and day habilitation programs. We offer residential services by purchasing homes in Fort Bend County and then leasing them at below-market rates to qualified providers who agree to staff these as group homes and help those living in them with their special needs. We offer Commercial Properties to a provider who staffs Learning Centers at these locations. The Arc in collaboration with Fort Bend Transit fund reliable, safe, and affordable van transportation services for qualified residents with disabilities so they can meet employment obligations.

What a fantastic night at our youth socials! Teen/Tween Social and TwentySomethings groups participated in adapted theater games led by the wonderful Ms. Nychollete and Ms. Alea from Main Street Theater! 🎬💫

Lots of laughter, imagination and teamwork! Everyone had a chance to get involved and shine! We are so grateful to Main Street Theater for creating an inclusive experience for all to explore the joy of theater! ❤️

A huge thank-you to Ms. Nychollete and Ms. Alea for making the evening so memorable! We loved seeing our teens and young adults step into the spotlight! 🌟

Big news to share! 🗞️✨

After 20 years of extraordinary service and leadership with The Arc of Fort Bend County, our CEO, Laura LaVigne, is retiring.

Laura leaves knowing she's part of a lasting legacy—one built with an incredible Board of Directors, passionate volunteers, generous community supporters, and an outstanding staff who share an unwavering commitment to Quality of Life for All.

While we are sad to see her go, we all have great confidence in what she's leaving behind and where we're going next. The Arc is strong, mission-focused, and surrounded by a community that cares deeply about the individuals we serve.

And the future is bright! It is our pleasure to announce that the Board has selected Karri Axtell, J.D. to serve as the organization’s next CEO.

Karri has been a valued member of The Arc family since October 2017, serving as our Advocacy and Youth Programs Director. Her deep personal connection to the mission, combined with her experience, passion, and dedication to those we serve, makes her well prepared to lead the organization into its next chapter.
