First Colony Branch Library - FBCL The First Colony Branch Library in Sugar Land is one of 12 branches of Fort Bend County Libraries, a public library system in Fort Bend County, Texas.

Fort Bend County Libraries' First Colony Branch Library opened in June 1993, the second of the four new branches built with bond-election funds voted for in 1989. The mission of Fort Bend County Libraries is to bring people, information and ideas together to enrich lives, expand minds, and strengthen our community. September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month! All Texas residents can get a free library card with the Fort Bend County library system. All you need is a government-issued photo ID card and proof of residence. A Texas Driver License or ID card works for both, but if you’ve just moved here, an out-of-state ID and a document like a lease (with your name and new address on it) can be used for signing up. See below for a full list of acceptable documents.

Fort Bend County offers multiple types of library cards but our most popular are the Full-Service Card and the e-Card. Full-Service cards allow you to check out all physical and digital media as well as access our databases. e-Cards allow you to check out digital media and access our databases. Whatever you choose, we would love to get you a library card today!

Acceptable Forms of ID include:

i. Texas or another state’s driver license ii. Texas ID card iii. Passport iv. U.S. Military ID v. International Driver License vi. Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) vii. Texas Department of Public Safety ID viii. Texas Offender ID ix. Texas Concealed Handgun License x. Any government-issued photo ID with an identifying number.

Acceptable proof of address include:

i. Imprinted bank check, deposit slip, or bank statement ii. Utility deposit receipt or current utility bill iii. A valid Texas Voter Registration card, Texas Vehicle registration, Texas Proof of Automobile Insurance Card iv. Rental/Lease Agreement, Home Purchase documents v. Official mail sent to the address on the application and postmarked within the last 30 days vi. Driver License for Peace Officers and Prosecutors vii. Employment stub from the past 60 days viii. Credit-card bill from the past 60 days.
