1 day down. 181 days to go. 🌪️

Hurricane Season has officially started, and unlike our unread emails, this is something we should probably stay on top of.

It's a great time to review your preparedness checklist, refresh your supplies, and sign up for emergency notifications so you can stay up to date on evacuation notices, water contamination issues and other notices to keep you and your family safe.

Over the weekend, Sugar Land Fire Department hosted the LoneStar Truck Academy, bringing together departments from the Houston area and firefighters across Texas.

The training focused on truck company operations, including how crews use aerial ladders to access upper floors, perform rescues, ventilate buildings, and support firefighters working inside a structure fire.

These are complex skills that take practice and coordination. We were happy to have the opportunity to train alongside so many departments committed to improving their craft.

Thank you to the instructors and participating crews for a great weekend of training.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice protects the freedoms we share every day, and we are forever grateful.

Earlier today, crews responded to a traffic incident on Hwy 59 involving a pickup truck and a livestock trailer transporting horses.

The roadway has since been cleared. Thank you to drivers for their patience while crews worked the scene and investigated the accident.

Sugar Land just received some sweet news 😌✨

We just landed at #10 on U.S. News & World Report’s 2026–2027 Best Places to Live list!
Great parks, amazing food spots, strong schools, booming business, easy Houston access... we are improving mobility, infrastructure and community services that help both our residents and businesses. We are creating the kind of community people actually want to work, live AND play in.

Turns out investing in quality of life, public safety, and community pays off. We love this for us
😉🏆

EMS Week: Improving Outcomes, Together

When Mr. Neely went into cardiac arrest at home, the chain of survival began immediately.

His family quickly recognized something was wrong and called 911. Sugar Land dispatcher Muhammed Asif provided critical instructions over the phone, helping guide Mr. Neely’s daughter as she began CPR. Sugar Land Police Officer Ryan Barton arrived and continued CPR until crews from Station 2, B Shift took over.

From there, our crews provided advanced care and recognized that Mr. Neely could be a candidate for ECMO, a specialized life-support treatment used in certain cardiac arrest cases. He was transported to the hospital, where the medical team provided definitive care. Thanks to each link in that chain, he made an excellent recovery.

Last week, Mr. Neely stopped by Station 2 to meet the crew who helped care for him.

His story is a powerful reminder of what “Improving Outcomes, Together” means. From family members and dispatchers to police officers, firefighters, paramedics, nurses, physicians, and hospital teams, it takes everyone working together to give patients the best possible chance of survival and recovery.

This afternoon, we officially welcomed the new Engine 6 into service with a traditional push-in ceremony at Station 6.

This new apparatus maintains our ability to respond to emergencies in Greatwood and across the city, while helping ensure our firefighters have the tools and equipment they need to effectively protect our community.

Approved by voters as part of the 2024 Bond Election under Proposition A, this investment reflects our continued commitment to public safety and delivering on the promises made to our residents.

Thank you, Sugar Land, for supporting this investment and helping us build a safer, stronger city together.
