Suffolk Public Schools and offices will be closed on Friday, September 4, 2026, in accordance with Virginia Code § 22.1-79.1, which requires school divisions with a pre-Labor Day start to close on the Friday immediately preceding Labor Day. Schools and offices will remain closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day and will reopen on Tuesday, September 8.

Our Sharks Were DEWING Their Thing!

We officially made it through the 1st week of school, and our amazing teachers and staff were absolutely DEWING their thing!💚💙

From welcoming students, building relationships, establishing routines, and jumping right into learning, our staff showed up with energy, dedication, and heart all week long. We are so proud of the way our Sharks kicked off the year!

We had a GREAT week, and we can’t wait to see all that this year has to bring! 🦈

Today was a FIN-tastic first day at Kilby Shores Elementary! 🦈🌊💙

Our halls were filled with smiles, excitement, new friendships, and lots of learning as we officially kicked off the 2026–2027 school year!

A special thank you to our amazing PTA for giving our staff an extra boost with Brunch-on-the Go to help get them through the first day! We truly appreciate your thoughtfulness and support of our Kilby Shores family. 💙

We are so proud of our Sharks for an amazing first day, and we can't wait to see all that they will accomplish this year.
