Get ready for a whole week of play! From Sunday, June 21 to Saturday, June 27, Suffolk Parks & Recreation will be participating in the statewide initiative, Play All Day VA.

Honoring the summer solstice and longest day of the year on June 21, we're encouraging everyone to get out and play! From art programs and outdoor activities to live music and an outdoor movie, we're offering free activities all throughout the week. No memberships or fees required — just bring your smiling faces and come prepared to play.

Plus, to beat the summer heat, we'll be giving away free popsicles and other goodies at our parks. So, mark your calendar and join us for a jam-packed week that we can't wait to share with Suffolk!

🌿👣 Join Us for Trail Day! 👣🌿 June 24

Looking for a great way to give back to your community while enjoying the outdoors? Join Suffolk Parks & Recreation on Wednesday, June 24th from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM at the Driver Trail Head of the Suffolk Seaboard Coastline Trail for an engaging and hands-on Trail Day experience!

Learn from a Certified Arborist as we explore the difference between native and invasive plant species, discuss their impact on our local environment, and work together to remove invasive species along the trail. This is a great opportunity to expand your knowledge, connect with fellow nature enthusiasts, and help preserve one of Suffolk's treasured recreational resources.

Interested in making an even bigger impact? You can sign up on-site to become a Trail Ambassador Volunteer! Trail Ambassadors serve as the eyes and ears of the trail, helping improve safety, report concerns, and enhance the experience for all trail users.

CITY OF SUFFOLK JUNETEENTH HOLIDAY CLOSING SCHEDULE

In observance of the Juneteenth holiday, Suffolk City offices will be closed Friday, June 19, 2026. Normal operations will resume Monday, June 22, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. The City observes all state-designated holidays. Juneteenth is considered a holiday for the Commonwealth of Virginia, and all State offices are closed on this day.

Suffolk Public Works Department and TFC Recycling will pick up trash as scheduled for June 19. Suffolk Public Works Department reminds you that trash must be placed at the curbside no later than 7 a.m. on the day of collection. For more information on refuse collection, please call Public Works at 757.514.7630.

The Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA) Transfer Station in Suffolk and the Regional Landfill will be closed Friday, June 19.

Suffolk Transit will operate on a normal schedule and offer free fares on Friday, June 19.

All Suffolk Joint Use Recreation Centers (Kings Fork, Creekside, Northern Shores, Oakland, Booker T. Washington, Mack Benn, Jr.) will be closed on Friday, June 19.

The East Suffolk Recreation Center, Curtis Milteer Recreation Center and Bennett’s Creek Recreation Center will be closed Friday, June 19.

The Suffolk Parks & Recreation Administration Office will be closed on Friday, June 19.

Suffolk’s four major parks (Lone Star Lakes, Lake Meade, Sleepy Hole, Bennett's Creek) will remain open Friday, June 19. However, no park attendant will be on duty.

The Suffolk Art Gallery will be closed on Friday, June 19.

Cypress Park & Pool will be closed until further notice.

All Suffolk City Libraries (North Suffolk, Chuckatuck) will be closed on Friday, June 19, for the Juneteenth Holiday. North Suffolk Libraries will reopen at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, while the Chuckatuck Library will reopen at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 22.

The Suffolk Visitor Center will be open on Friday, June 19, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Suffolk Seaboard Station Railroad Museum will be closed on Friday, June 19.

The Suffolk Executive Airport terminal will be unmanned on Friday, June 19. The airfield, self-service fuel island, and restaurant will remain open on Friday, June 19.
