We are busy getting ready for Summer Reading, it starts in 2 weeks! Our theme this year is Plant a Seed, Read! Adults starts June 15, here are the rules:
Register!
If you live in Suffield, you can register for
the Adult Summer Reading Program
at the front desk. The program runs from
Monday June 15, 2026 through
Thursday July 30, 2026.

Read!
Read anything and everything you like.
Books! Magazines! Audiobooks!
Each week that you read - completing a book is not required - you are eligible to enter a raffle ticket
(one ticket per week) for a
chance to win one of the great raffle baskets!

Kids Summer Reading starts June 18 and the rules are slightly different. Kids and teens do not need to register. They will receive a raffle ticket each week that they visit the library for one of the prize baskets and will get to spin the prize wheel for an instant prize.

Revolutionary Libations: A 1776 Tavern Experience
Have you ever wanted to party like it’s 1776?
June 18 OR 25 at 6:30 PM
Join us for a true colonial tavern experience at Three Figs! Enjoy authentic colonial fare and cocktails, while the Historical society’s Jackie Hemond and Tim Casey entertain the crowd with stories and trivia about Suffield life in 1776. Food and Libations will be provided by Three Figs and sponsored by The Friends of the Library. Registration will open June 4 and is required. Ages 21 and up.

Kwame Alexander visits Suffield October 1st! He's a NYT best selling author of 45 books for kids, teens, and adults. Let's get the whole community reading together! Books are available for pickup at the library. Credit to our high school interns Alivia and Silas for putting this collage together.

A Conversation with Author Ron Farina In-Person
CT Author and recent CT Veteran Hall of Fame inductee will read from his nonfiction book, "Sacrifice the Final Chapter" and discuss the stories and his journey to becoming a writer with Liz Bologna. Ron will take questions from the audience as well.

Ron Farina is the author of four nonfiction books: “At the Altar of the Past,” “Out of the Shadows: Voices of American Women Soldiers,” “Who Will Have My Back,” and “Sacrifice: The Final Chapter,” released in the summer of 2024. Other works include: Unsung Heroes, Keeping Promises, and War Torn, personal essays about the human cost of war. In 2021, Ron was awarded the AWP Intro Award for fiction and the American Society of Professional Journalists, Connecticut Chapter first-place award for general column magazine feature, for the essay “War Torn.”

In January of 2025, cited for using his passion for writing to advocate for and bring attention to the needs of veterans and their families, Ron was inducted into the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame. Ron was selected as an INDIE Publishers 2025 book award finalist for military nonfiction for the book “Sacrifice: The Final Chapter.”

“In Sha Allah, if God Wills It,” the real-life story of an Afghan combat interpreter is scheduled for release in the summer of 2026, published by Casemate Publishers.

He lives in Connecticut with his wife and two Golden Retrievers, Henry and Preacher.
