LOCK IT. REMOVE IT. HELP PREVENT CAR BREAK-INS.

A quick reminder to all Ramapo residents: please take a few extra seconds to secure your vehicle.

🔒 Lock your car, even if you’re only stepping away for a moment.
🔑 Remove your keys and key fob, never leave them inside your vehicle, even when it’s locked.
🚗 Remove valuables from sight. An empty vehicle is less tempting to thieves.

Many vehicle thefts and break-ins are crimes of opportunity. Taking these simple precautions can make a big difference in protecting your vehicle and belongings.

TRAFFIC ALERT – ROUTE 59

Please be advised of a traffic delay in between Robert Pitt Drive and Kennedy Drive due to wires down in the roadway.

Motorists should use alternate routes and expect delays while crews work to address the issue. Please use caution and be patient when traveling through the area.

Ramapo PD officers recently responded to an unusual call after an emu decided to make a break for it from a local petting zoo.

Patrol officers quickly located our feathered fugitive, but as you can imagine, convincing an emu that the adventure was over took a little teamwork.

With some help from our Skydio Drone as First Responder (DFR) drone providing an eye in the sky, officers were able to track the emu’s movements and safely get it under control. Sgt. Anton ultimately made it very clear that its unauthorized tour of Ramapo was officially over.

The emu was safely recovered and returned to where it belonged. No injuries, no citations, and no word yet on whether it plans to escape again. 🐦🚔🚁

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001.

Twenty-five years have passed, but the memories of that morning remain. We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families who never got to say goodbye, and the first responders who ran toward danger when others were trying to escape.

We also remember the police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and countless others who answered the call that day and in the difficult days and months that followed. Many would later lose their lives to illnesses connected to their service at Ground Zero.

For those of us in law enforcement, September 11 carries a special weight. It reminds us of the courage shown by ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, and of the responsibility that comes with wearing the uniform.

Today, the Ramapo Police Department pauses to remember all who were lost, all who served, and all whose lives were forever changed.

Twenty-five years later, we still remember.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT – COMMUNITY UPDATE

Earlier this evening, Ramapo Police responded to a residence in the Village of Airmont for a report of an unwanted person who had repeatedly contacted a homeowner regarding the possible purchase of their residence.

Responding officers spoke with the complainant and the individual involved. The individual was advised, at the homeowner’s request, that all further contact was unwanted and that he was not to return to the residence. He acknowledged those instructions and agreed not to return.

Following the incident, our Drone as First Responder (DFR) was utilized to check the surrounding area, in addition to continued patrol coverage.

After becoming aware of concerns that additional text messages had been received, a Ramapo Police officer returned to the residence this evening to personally follow up with the complainant. During that follow-up, the complainant advised that they had received a text message apologizing for the earlier contact. The complainant was offered the opportunity to pursue charges and declined to do so.

We understand that an unwanted person repeatedly coming to someone’s home can be concerning, particularly when family members are home. We take those concerns seriously. Our officers responded, addressed the unwanted contact, documented the incident, conducted additional follow-up, and offered the complainant the opportunity to pursue charges.

Ramapo Police will continue to monitor the area through both ground patrols and our DFR program with a Skydio X10 Drone.

We encourage residents who observe suspicious activity or feel unsafe to contact the Ramapo Police Department so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Your safety remains our priority.

⚾️🦁 DARE Night at Clover Stadium! 🦁⚾️

On September 4, the Town of Ramapo Police Department’s DARE program brought together students for a night of fun, friendship, and baseball! 🌟

Kids who participated in the DARE program had the opportunity to enjoy an exciting game at Clover Stadium, make memories with friends, and even meet the one and only Darren the Lion! 🦁⚾️

We’re proud to celebrate these amazing young members of our community and the hard work they’ve put into making positive choices and staying DARE strong!

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this special night possible. Here’s to learning, growing, and having a little fun along the way! 👏
