🇺🇸🚒 A Night of Patriotism, Brotherhood & Tradition 🚒🇺🇸

The members of the Stuyvesant Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 would like to sincerely thank the Ashland Fire Company for inviting us to participate in the Greene County Firefighters Parade.

It was an incredible honor to stand alongside fire companies from across the region as the United States Marine Corps Band performed our National Anthem beneath a giant American flag, surrounded by the flags of the many fire companies represented by their color guards.

It was a special evening for Stuyvesant, and we were proud to have our color guard there representing our department and our community.

Thank you to the Ashland Fire Company for hosting such a memorable event and for including Stuyvesant. We truly appreciate the invitation and the opportunity to stand alongside our fellow firefighters for an evening celebrating the pride, tradition, and brotherhood of the fire service.

🇺🇸 25 YEARS — NEVER FORGET 🇺🇸

Twenty-five years ago, on September 11, 2001, our nation experienced a tragedy that changed us forever.

Today, we remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost that day, including the civilians, firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and other first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call to serve others.

We especially remember the 343 members of the FDNY who gave their lives that day. Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication continue to inspire firefighters and first responders everywhere.

Twenty-five years later, we still remember. We remember those who were lost, the families who continue to carry that loss, and the countless heroes who ran toward danger when others were running away.

From one fire company to another, we honor their memory and the legacy they left behind.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

The Stuyvesant Fire District No. 1 and Board of Fire Commissioners are proud to announce our building renovation project is now open to bid.

Sealed bids must be received by the District at the station by 3 PM on October 5, 2026, with the opening to follow that same day.

State Route 9J over Mill Creek (the area of Swyer Preserve) in Stuyvesant was damaged during the historic rainfall last week.

NYS DOT has told us that the road will remain closed between County Route 26A and the County line while repairs are made. The State has hired a contractor and expects the closure to be in place for approximately 4 weeks. Below is a detour map that DOT has provided us with. Local traffic can continue to Gibbons Rd north of 26a . Local traffic can continue south of the county line to just south of Schoolhouse Rd .

NOTICE TO STUYVESANT RESIDENTS & BUSINESSES

Following the historic heavy rainfall and flash flooding that impacted our area on July 29, 2026, the Stuyvesant Fire Company is asking any residents or businesses that sustained damage to please complete the New York State Damage Self-Reporting Survey.

If your home or business experienced flooding, water damage, property damage, or other storm-related damage, please submit a report even if you have already cleaned up or made repairs.

These reports are important. They help New York State determine the overall extent of the damage in our community and throughout Columbia County. If damages are significant enough, the State may seek a Presidential Disaster Declaration, which is necessary before FEMA assistance can be considered.

Submitting the survey does not guarantee FEMA assistance, but every report helps provide a more accurate picture of how severely our area was impacted.

This survey is for homes and businesses only. Damage to roads, bridges, public buildings, and other public infrastructure is reported separately by local government.

We encourage everyone who experienced damage from the July 29 storm to complete the survey and help make sure Stuyvesant’s damages are accurately represented.
