🚪💙 KEEP THE KNOCKS COMING!

The ADRC of Racine County would like to share that sometimes, it’s more than a knock on the door.

For a homebound older adult, that knock can mean a nutritious meal, a friendly smile, a few minutes of conversation, and knowing that someone cares.

That’s what Meals on Wheels volunteers do every day in Racine County. ❤️

Our volunteers deliver meals to older adults who may not be able to leave their homes or prepare meals on their own. But what they deliver goes beyond food—they deliver connection, kindness and a daily check-in.

And the best part? You don’t have to give a lot of time to make a big difference. Whether you can volunteer regularly, fill in when needed, or help occasionally, your time matters.

🚗 Become a Meals on Wheels volunteer!
✔️ Deliver meals
✔️ Meet amazing older adults in our community
✔️ Help someone feel connected
✔️ Make a difference in just a few hours

Keep the knocks coming. Keep the smiles coming. Keep the connection coming. 💙

🥗 Malnutrition Awareness Week | September 14–18, 2026 🥗

Did you know that older adults can be at increased risk for malnutrition—even when they may not look underweight?

Malnutrition can happen for many reasons, including decreased appetite, difficulty shopping or preparing meals, changes in health, medications, social isolation, or difficulty accessing nutritious food.

Knowing the warning signs can make a difference. Look for:
• Unplanned weight loss
• Eating less than usual
• Feeling weak or tired
• Loss of muscle or strength
• Changes in appetite
• Difficulty preparing or accessing meals

During Malnutrition Awareness Week, the ADRC of Racine County is encouraging older adults, caregivers, families, and community members to make nutrition a priority.

❤️ A nutritious meal is more than food—it can provide strength, independence, connection, and support for healthy aging.

If you or someone you know is having difficulty getting enough nutritious food, the ADRC of Racine County can help connect you with available nutrition and community resources.

📞 Contact the ADRC of Racine County to learn more about available resources and support.

💚 September 8: You Are Not Alone — 988 Is Here to Help

Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, and knowing where to turn can make all the difference.

September 8 is 988 Day, a time to raise awareness about the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline and remind our community that support is available—whether you’re experiencing a mental health or emotional crisis, worried about someone you love, or simply need someone to talk to.

📞 Call or text 988
💬 Chat with a crisis counselor online
🤝 Free, confidential support is available 24/7

You don’t have to wait until things feel unbearable to reach out. Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

And if you’re concerned about a friend, family member, neighbor, or caregiver, reaching out and simply saying “How are you doing?” can be a meaningful first step.

Save the number. Share the message. Be there for one another. 💚
