This campaign has been a great experience. I’ve learnt a lot from all the experiences and I just wanted to share a little with everyone. First I cannot stress how important it is for our generation to get involved in our local townships. A quote that has stuck with me throughout this election is, “if you don’t have a seat at the table you’re on the menus.” Things are happening and we need to be aware and educated. You can’t start a fire without a spark and that spark starts in our homes, our communities, and then our country.
You don’t have to have a certain last name, a lot of money, or be a politician to make a difference. You just have to speak up. A very physically strong man once told me that, “true strength is being strong for others.” I knew going into this that it was a David and Goliath situation. But even when the odds are stacked against you, you have to stay the course. Don’t lose who you are along the way. Despite facing slander, threats, and ridicule we pushed on. I can honestly say we ran a clean campaign and focused on the facts. And a blue collar regular guy from Sturgis almost beat a 16 year incumbent. Because we knew what was wrong and we weren’t afraid to stand up even if it meant standing alone. And as we shined our light on these issues that spark started to turn into a fire. And then I looked behind me and you all were there right with me. And for that I say thank you.
