🍎 HAPPY NATIONAL ASST. PRINCIPALS MONTH! 🍎

October is a time to recognize the incredible school leaders who show up every day to support students, staff, families, and their communities.

Our assistant principals do so much more than assist from the front—they listen, encourage, problem-solve, celebrate successes, navigate challenges, and keep students at the heart of every decision.

To our Piedmont Valley Elementary Assistant Principal, Melissa Thienes: This is her first year with the District, so she’s officially the new kid on the block—but with some very familiar South Dakota roots! 😉

She began her career as a classroom teacher in Washington, where she developed a passion for supporting diverse learners and using culturally responsive teaching practices.

A graduate of Wall and a former elementary student in Enning, SD, she’s excited to return to her roots, and serve the students, families, and staff at PVE & SMS.

We appreciate you—not just in October, but all year long! 👏

🍎 HAPPY NATIONAL PRINCIPALS MONTH! 🍎

October is a time to recognize the incredible school leaders who show up every day to support students, staff, families, and their communities.

Our principals do so much more than lead from the front—they listen, encourage, problem-solve, celebrate successes, navigate challenges, and keep students at the heart of every decision.

To our Piedmont Valley Elementary Principal, Ethan Dshaak : Mr. Dschaak has been an administrator with the Meade School District for 22 years! 🎉

He started his administrative career in 2004 as the Sturgis Elementary/Sturgis Williams Middle School assistant principal and served in that role through 2009. Apparently, being busy wasn’t enough, because during those years he also took on the role of head basketball coach! 🏀

In 2009, Mr. Dschaak made the move to Piedmont Valley Elementary, where he became principal—and, 17 years later, he’s still there! We’re guessing he must really like the place… or they just haven’t let him leave yet! 😉

Thank you, Mr. Dschaak, for 22 years of leadership, dedication, and service to Meade School District!

We appreciate you—not just in October, but all year long! 👏

💛🎗️ GO GOLD! 🎗️💛

Our school community went GOLD October 6 to raise awareness for childhood cancer and show our support for children and families affected by this fight.

From students and teachers to staff, families, and friends, every one of us can make a difference by spreading awareness, showing compassion, and standing together.

Let’s fill our school with GOLD and remind those battling childhood cancer that they are surrounded by a community that cares. ❤️💛🖤

🏈🚨 HOMECOMING PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨🏈

Happy Homecoming, Scoopers! 🖤🤍❤️

We’re ready to wrap up Homecoming Week tonight as the Scoopers take on the Douglas Patriots! We’re expecting a BIG crowd, a great atmosphere, and plenty of Homecoming excitement. We’re also excited to welcome our 1976, 1986, 1996, and 2006 class reunions! 🎉

Special seating will be available for the reunions in the West End Zone area.

Now for the friendly reminders…because apparently, we have to say these things. 😂👇

👀 Parents, please keep an eye on the younger kiddos. If they’re attending the game, we ask that they stay with you in the stands and enjoy the game rather than congregating around the concessions or restrooms.

🌳 The park is not an extension of the field. Please remind students to stay within the field area and not wander off to the park or parking lot.

⚽ Tonight is not pickup basketball, dodgeball, or an impromptu soccer tournament. Please leave balls and other play equipment at home. This helps keep traffic, distractions, and accidental chaos to a minimum.

🚨 Keep the driveway clear! Only game personnel may park inside the gated area. Emergency vehicles need to be able to get in and out safely if needed.

We know Homecoming is about more than football—it’s about school spirit, traditions, friends, families, alumni, and making memories. Thank you for doing your part to help make tonight safe, enjoyable, and focused on cheering on our Scoopers! See you at 7:00 PM!

🎉 LET’S HAVE A GREAT HOMECOMING NIGHT!

🖤🤍❤️ GO SCOOPERS!
