The Southcentral Michigan Planning Council and the W.E. Upjohn Institute are working with Branch and St. Joseph Counties to create a plan to manage waste and recycling. Every county in the state is required to have an updated materials management handling plan. A committee of local elected officials and those with experience, or experience with materials management planning, is overseeing the development of the plan. This plan will focus on residential waste and recycling. As such, it is important to understand the needs and desires of the residents. The committee created a survey to allow residents a convenient opportunity to share their needs and preferences for garbage, recycling, yard waste, and hazardous materials disposal.
