Big things are happening at 104–106 N. Nottawa in downtown Sturgis!

The Sturgis Area Community Foundation is restoring this historic building into vibrant community space that will serve as the future home of SACF’s offices while also creating a shared gathering place for nonprofits, businesses, and community leaders across St. Joseph County.

This project is the first major investment of the newly established SIA Community Impact Fund, a charitable fund created through a partnership between SACF and the Sturgis Improvement Association to drive economic development through strategic impact investments throughout the county.

The renovation will also open new accessible connections to the neighboring Open Door Gallery, unlocking space for expanded arts programming, exhibits, and education.

We’re excited to continue sharing updates as this vision comes to life!

Today, the Constantine community came together to celebrate someone who has made a lasting impact on so many lives, Kathy Messner. 🌸🩷

Through collaboration and community spirit, a prairie rose crabapple tree has been planted in Kathy’s honor as a symbol of the kindness, dedication, and care she has shared with Constantine over the years.

Kathy, thank you for everything you have done for the Community Foundation and for the entire Constantine community. Your compassion and impact have touched countless people, and we are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate and honor you today.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for the 5th Annual James E. Riley Golf Outing, hosted in partnership with the Riley family and St. Joseph County Office of Veterans Affairs! ⛳🇺🇸

Because of incredible community support, Veterans in St. Joseph County are being paired with trained emotional support dogs that provide comfort, companionship, and healing. Since the James E. Riley Fund was established in 2021, five Veterans have received support dogs, with another match currently underway.

The Riley Family and the Sturgis Area Community Foundation are deeply grateful for the community’s generosity and commitment to honoring the legacy of Jim Riley and supporting those who have served our country.

🎓Congratulations to all of the 2026 scholarship recipients!🎓

The Sturgis Area Community Foundation is proud to announce that more than $260,000 in scholarships has been awarded this year to support students across St. Joseph County as they pursue their educational and career goals.

In April, we had the honor of celebrating these inspiring students and our incredible donors at the Foundation's annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony. We are deeply grateful to everyone who continues to support and invest in our scholarship program year after year.

A special thank you to the Foundation's Board of Trustees, scholarship reviewers, and generous scholarship fundholders. Truly, without you all, none of this would be possible.

Visit our Scholarship Awards page to view this year's recipients and help us celebrate their achievements and bright futures!

Yesterday, members of the St. Joseph County Childcare Coalition joined partners from the Branch County Childcare Coalition (BC3) at the Statewide Gathering of Regional Childcare Coalitions, proudly representing Michigan's Region 8!

This impactful event, hosted by the Early Childhood Investment Corporation, brought together all 10 regional coalitions to share innovative ideas, best practices, and collaborative solutions that support Michigan's children, families, childcare providers, employers, and municipalities. Representatives from the National League of Cities, along with leaders from Philadelphia, PA and Oakland, CA shared inspiring examples of work already underway in their communities.

A huge thank you to our Coalition Leads, Liz and Anna, and dedicated Coalition Member, Chris, for championing St. Joseph County's voice, vision, and commitment to strengthening early childhood systems.
