Altrusa International Foundation of Door County is pleased to announce the award of an $800 grant to the Sevastopol School District Middle School Band Program as part of the club's ongoing Music Literacy Project.

The grant will fund the purchase of Tradition of Excellence Books 1 and 2, instructional materials used by 5th and 7th grade band students. These books provide essential musical instruction and help students develop the foundational skills necessary for continued success in music education.

"We are proud to support music literacy opportunities for local students," said Pat Ploor Ploor Ploor and Lori Anderson from Altrusa's Music Litercy Committee. "Music education enriches lives, fosters creativity, and builds skills that benefit students both inside and outside the classroom."

Sevastopol Band Instructor Tanya Hasenjager expressed her gratitude for the grant."I am ecstatic that Altrusa has chosen our band program for this grant. It puts into the hands of our 5th and 7th grade band students the books that are necessary for them to progress. It eases the possible financial constraints for some of our families to know that that part is taken care of. It is helping elevate their music literacy and will help build solid foundational skills. We can't thank you enough!"

The grant reflects Altrusa's commitment to literacy in all its forms, including music literacy, and its dedication to supporting educational opportunities that strengthen the community.

Altrusa of Door County is a service organization dedicated to making communities better through leadership, partnership, and service. Through projects focused on literacy, education, and community support, the organization continues to make a positive impact throughout Door County.
