Rest easy Ryan. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, your family, and B.U.G. Fire Department.

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts we announce the passing of our brother, Firefighter Ryan Chaudoir. Ryan was courageous and faithful in his battle with cancer. Our minds are heavy and our tears cover our face. Ryan was a dedicated Firefighter, loving husband, dad, brother, son and the most genuine friend anyone could ever hope for. His contagious smile, his kind laughter and helping hand is forever engrained in us. Ryan’s passion in his faith and the prayerful example he set for everyone made us better every day we knew him. We will never forget you Ryan. We love you. I love you. Please watch over us. May peace, love and all that is good surround Ryan’s family and all who knew him.

Rest easy Chief Hecht. Thank you for your commitment and service for all of Door County. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family, friends, and entire department during these times.

It Is with profound sadness that the Sister Bay Liberty Grove Fire Department announces the passing of recently retired Fire Chief Chris Hecht on Monday January 19th, 2026.

Chief Hecht was a member of this department for 33 years, serving as Chief for 24 years until this past September. Chief Hecht lead this department with incredible strength and wisdom. He supported not only every single person on this department but the entire community.

Please join us in expressing our deepest condolences to Chief Hecht's family.

Funeral arrangements have been announced as follows:
-Thursday, January 29 Visitation 3-7 PM
-Friday, January 30 Visitation 9-10:45 AM
-Friday, January 30 Funeral at 11 AM

We will share more details via Facebook for departments who may want to attend to show their respect as soon as that information is available.

Nasewaupee Fire Rescue trained on vehicle extrication tonight using some of our extraction equipment. The team trained on different scenarios and tactics which help us serve those who live, work & travel through the town. Nasewaupee Fire rescue gives a shout out and big thank you to Robby and C&W Auto for donating the cars as well as Ken Suess at DC Auto for donating a rollback for TJ to haul the vehicles.

Effective this morning Nasewaupee Fire is putting out a burning ban. No burning is allowed except fire that are contained in a ring, attended to and being cooked over. But we strongly discourage this as well at this time. Also all burning permits will be suspended till further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation. We will keep everyone up to date as things change. Thank you for you support.
