World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2026

Today, June 15, we observe World Elder Abuse Awareness Day under the theme “Beyond Awareness: Making Elder Abuse Prevention Work.”

Elder abuse remains a significant concern that can take many forms, including physical, emotional, financial and psychological abuse, as well as neglect. Too often, these experiences go unnoticed or unreported, leaving older persons vulnerable and isolated.

Preventing elder abuse requires families, communities and institutions to work together with us to create environments where older persons are respected, protected and empowered.

As we mark this day, let us reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding the dignity, independence and quality of life ensuring that every person can age safety and with the respect they deserve.
