The city's compost site is still closed for grinding. With the winter storms this past winter, we accumulated a larger than normal amount of brush. I expect the site to remain closed through tomorrow.

The grinding at the compost site continues. It will likely continue until Monday. I will update as soon as I have an anticipated completion date.

We just received notice that the grinder for the city's compost site will be here tomorrow. We will close the compost site tomorrow, October 1st at noon. We have an abundance of brush and lawn waste that needs to be ground so we are not certain of the re-opening date, I expect this to take 3-4 days. I will post an update on here Friday afternoon to keep folks informed best as possible.

Door County Highway Department will be hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Clean Sweep that will take place on the following dates:

Friday, November 6th 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Sister Bay / Liberty Grove Fire Station
2258 Mill Road, Sister Bay

Saturday, November 7th 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Door County Highway Department
1001 S. Duluth Avenue, Sturgeon Bay

The Wisconsin State Patrol is teaming up with the Wisconsin School Bus Association this week to educate motorists about the dangers of illegally passing school buses with their red lights flashing.

Passing a school bus illegally is extremely dangerous as it endangers the lives of students. Special patrols will take place throughout the state this week to remind drivers that they must stop at least 20 feet from a school bus with its red lights flashing.

NOTICE

One of our refuse trucks has broken a shaft that controls all hydraulics, leaving it inoperable. With next week being a recycling week, we will have to change the schedule for recycling only. Recycling will be picked up a couple of days later as outlined below.

Monday’s route 9/21/26, put out on Wednesday 9/23/26
Tuesday’s route 9/22/26, put out on Thursday 9/24/26
Wednesday’s 9/23/26 and Thursday’s 9/24/26 route, put out on Friday 9/25/26

Garbage will be picked up as normal.

Sorry for the inconvenience, we hope to have repairs completed as soon as parts arrive, we are expecting them within the next week.

S. Neenah Ave. (between State Highway 42 - 57 & Willow Drive) will be ROAD CLOSED. Repair to damaged storm sewer and resulting asphalt removal/ replacement will be taking place. S. Neenah Ave. is accessible from the West or East using S. Lansing Ave. and Willow Drive to S. Neenah Ave. or S. Oxford Ave. to S. Neenah Ave. The intersection is expected to be reopened for traffic after 9/28/26.
