Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad We are a volunteer rescue squad organization composed of dedicated volunteer EMT's. We provide Basic and Advanced Life Support.

Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad is a volunteer organization located in Augusta County, Virginia. Our service area covers the southeastern area of Augusta County and includes the communities of Stuarts Draft, Sherando, Love and portions of Mint Springs, Ladd and Fishersville. We maintain a fleet of four advanced life support (ALS) equipped ambulances, a medium duty crash truck, and an ALS equipped first response.

What an absolute privilege and joy it was to be invited to SDES Career Day 2026! Being able to spend time with these students, share experiences, and hopefully inspire a few young minds toward a rewarding career path was truly special.

The excitement, curiosity, and energy from the students made the day unforgettable. Opportunities like this remind us how important it is to invest in the next generation, encourage their dreams, and show them the many ways they can make a difference in their communities.

A huge thank you to SDES, the amazing families, and all the community partners who helped make this event such a success.

SDRS honors the life and service of Dave Whitesell, Life Member, who had over 40 years of dedicated service to Stuarts Draft. Dave’s gift was to help those by providing safe transport - not only on the ambulance but also for the county school system. Dave loved the rescue squad and his squad family and we loved him. Many memories were made over the decades. We will miss Dave greatly but find peace knowing he is at rest after humbly serving for so many years.

We are proud to recognize Kevin for the first quarter Chief’s Award of 2026. Kevin is a regularly Thursday night crew member and frequently assists the squad running additional calls throughout the week. He is a very active call reviewer on our Quality Assurance committee and does an excellent job! We are so fortunate to have him on the team. Congrats Kevin and well deserved! 🚑
