🚨MCFR FIREFIGHTERS EXTRICATE & AIRLIFT DRIVER WITH TRAUMATIC INJURIES AFTER ROLLOVER CRASH IN PALM CITY🚨

The driver of a small sedan involved in a rollover crash Friday was flown to the hospital with traumatic injuries by LifeStar.

The crash happened just after 6:15 p.m. on Interstate 95 southbound near the High Meadows exit in Palm City. Upon arrival, MCFR’s special operations team quickly worked to extricate the driver from their car. The black sedan had rolled over onto its side and crashed into a palm tree.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) also responded. All lanes of Interstate 95 southbound have been reopened.

Great rescue by the following C-Shift crews: Heavy Rescue 23, LifeStar, Alert 1, Rescue 211, Rescue 231, Engine 21, Engine 22, EMS 2, Battalion 2 & 3.

It is with heavy hearts that we remember Elbert “Pete” Davis, who passed away peacefully in his sleep last night.

Pete dedicated more than 30 years of his life to serving the people of Martin County as a Firefighter/EMT within our department before retiring in 2017. Those that knew him say his dedication and commitment to helping others left a lasting impact. Tomorrow would have been his 62nd birthday.

We extend our deepest condolences to Pete’s family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.

Thank you for your service, Pete. Your legacy will not be forgotten, and you will be deeply missed.

One week from today, our Martin County community will gather to observe the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and aboard the four flights that crashed on September 11, 2001.

We invite you to join our local first responders, community partners, families, friends and neighbors for our annual 9/11 Memorial Bridge Walk. Together, we will pay tribute to the thousands who lost their lives, the first responders who answered the call and all those whose hearts and minds were changed forever.

Whether you have attended before or will be joining us for the first time, please take a moment to review the information in this post and prepare accordingly. We look forward to walking alongside our community as we pause, remember and reflect.

Another round of applause for Martin County Fire Rescue’s incredible finish at the 2026 Southeast Regional Firefighter Challenge Classic in Deerfield Beach. 👏🔥

In nearly 100-degree heat and full bunker gear, this team put their strength, speed and firefighting skills to the test on a grueling course designed to simulate job-related tasks.

Here’s what they faced:

🗼The first teammate started the course by running up a five-story tower of stairs while carrying a 42-pound hose pack.
💪Once at the top of the tower, that same teammate conducted a hand-over-hand hoist of a 42-pound donut roll. Then, that person ran all the way down the stairs to tap in the next participant.
🔨Once at the base of the tower, the next crew member practiced forcible entry by using a nearly 10-pound dead blow hammer to force a 160-pound steel beam five feet backward.
👨‍🚒The next teammate weaved through a 140-foot slalom course without knocking over or missing any fire hydrants. Then, another person dragged a hose line 75 feet through the swinging doors and aimed the water nozzle to hit the target.
⛑️Finally, one teammate dragged a 165-pound manikin more than 100 feet backward and across the finish line!

Each team competed several times in different parts of the challenge to try and earn the best overall time. MCFR won two, first-place titles, one second-place finish and a third-place distinction.

Nice work by Hannah Abell, Hannah Helton, Melissa Reilly, Jessica Rosenberg, Sabrina Price, Mikey Messier, John Coppola, Conner Pecci, Tommy Duane, Alicia Neumann and Sheldon Maurice!
