Today, the Okeechobee County Board of County Commissioners approved a partnership between the Okeechobee Healthy Start Coalition and Treasure Coast Maternity Center to bring a weekly mobile maternity clinic to Okeechobee County.
Beginning Tuesday, May 19, the “MOM Mobile: Maternity on the Move” will provide prenatal and postpartum care services in Okeechobee County every Tuesday.
The 38-foot mobile clinic is equipped to provide prenatal care services directly within the community and includes exam space, laboratory capabilities, radiology equipment, and educational resources for expectant and postpartum mothers.
Services will be available at no cost for eligible pregnant and postpartum residents. Bilingual staff will also be available to assist patients and families.
The Okeechobee County Library will serve as the host location for the mobile clinic.
The initiative was developed through the Okeechobee Healthy Start Coalition’s Maternal Care Task Force, which identified transportation and access to prenatal care as major barriers for local families seeking maternal healthcare services.
An Open Bus Tour for the community is scheduled for Friday, May 15 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM at Okeechobee Healthy Start Coalition, 114 SW 5th Ave, Okeechobee, Fl.
Residents will have an opportunity to tour the mobile clinic, meet staff, and learn more about available prenatal, postpartum, and Healthy Start services.
The MOM Mobile program was first launched in Martin County in 2025 and is now expanding into Okeechobee County through this partnership.
