Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary of Martin, St. Lucie & Okeechobee Counties Our local Women's Auxiliary has grown to more than 58 members from Martin and St. Lucie Counties.

Each member gives of her time and talents to build public awareness and support for the programs and services of The Salvation Army. The first Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary was formed in the United States in 1883 when an influential group of women offered to help and support the work of The Salvation Army. In 2000 Mary Helen Keim and 18 other dedicated women decided to join forces to create an

Auxiliary to support The Salvation Army’s mission in Martin County. The local Women’s Auxiliary worked tirelessly for nearly 12 years to purchase and remodel a new building to house administrative and social services offices, a chapel for worship with Sunday School classrooms, and then Compassion House transitional shelter for homeless women and children.

The Women’s Auxiliary of Martin, St. Lucie and Okeechobee Counties

The Women's Auxiliary, a group of 58 ladies who devote their time to raising awareness and funds for the Salvation Army's programs. The Auxiliary was formed in 2000 and was largely responsible for the development of Compassion House. Since then, the Auxiliary continues to support Compassion House with annual fund-raisers and donations. The ladies also contribute a great deal of volunteer time to our Family Store thrift store and to such programs as our Angel Tree program. We are also blessed to have many other volunteers, both organizations and individuals, who step forward when called upon to help with everything from serving in our soup kitchen to counting money in our red kettles. More than 500 volunteers gave over 19,100 hours of their time in service to the Salvation Army in Martin County in our last fiscal year.
