We would like to thank our Engineer-Kevin who took our 1991 KME Engine to the Harrisburg Pump Primers today and Won Best Appearing Fire Department Owned 1979-2001 fire truck.

Celebrate Independence Day safely! 🎆

The Blue Ridge Hook & Ladder Fire Co. wishes everyone a fantastic and festive 4th of July! As you enjoy the celebrations, barbecues, and fireworks, please keep these safety tips in mind to ensure a happy holiday for everyone:

🎇 Fireworks Safety

Leave it to the pros: The safest way to enjoy fireworks is to watch a public display conducted by professionals.

Supervise children: Never allow young children to handle sparklers or fireworks. Sparklers burn at extremely high temperatures and can easily cause serious injuries.

Keep a distance: If using consumer fireworks, maintain a safe distance from onlookers, homes, and dry vegetation. Always have a water source—a bucket of water or a garden hose—nearby.

🍔 Grill & Picnic Safety

Grill away from the house: Always operate your grill outdoors, well away from siding, deck railings, and out from under eaves or overhanging branches.

Keep it clean: Regularly remove grease or fat buildup in the grill tray to prevent unexpected flare-ups.

Stay attentive: Never leave a lit grill unattended.

☀️ General Holiday Safety

Hydrate: Stay cool and drink plenty of water, especially if you are outdoors in the heat all day.

Designate a driver: If your celebrations include alcohol, ensure you have a sober ride home.
