Hey Cougars! Quick reminder—we have i-Ready testing tomorrow and Friday!
Here’s your checklist

#1 BE ON TIME! We need everyone here and ready to go so we can start testing on time.

#2 Charge that Chromebook! We need it at 100% and back at school with you tomorrow.

#3 Check your school email tonight! Your testing location will be there, so know where you’re going before you arrive.

#4 If you have wired headphones, bring them with you.

#5 Get a good night’s sleep!

And tomorrow—take your time, stay focused, and show us what you know! Remember, i-Ready helps us know what you already know and what we still need to help you learn.

Back-to-School/Curriculum Night is TONIGHT from 6:00–8:00 p.m.!

📚 After the welcome, families will follow their student’s schedule and visit teachers in their classrooms for a meet-and-greet. Please check your student’s schedule before arriving or access it in Infinite Campus.
🚗 Parking will fill up quickly! Please be prepared to park on surrounding streets or at Ridge Circle Elementary School.
Tonight is a meet-and-greet rather than a Parent-Teacher Conference night so that every family has an opportunity to meet our teachers.

The Fine Arts Department is excited to announce our all-school musical, Finding Nemo, Jr.! 🐠

We are hosting a workshop on Monday after school from 3:45–5:00 PM. The workshop will cover all of the ways students can get involved, including:

🎭 Acting
🎶 Singing
💃 Dancing
🎨 Set Design
🎬 Stage Crew
🎟️ Box Office — tickets, marketing, and publications

There is something for everyone! We want all students to know that they can be part of the musical, whether they want to be on stage or behind the scenes.

Our first two days have been filled with energy, excitement, and so many smiling faces! It has been wonderful to officially welcome our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and see our Canton community come together. 💙
A few important dates coming up:

At Open House, families will get to follow their student’s schedule, visit classrooms, meet teachers, and experience a little bit of a day at Canton!

This morning, our staff welcomed students with a Clap-In as they entered a building full of new beginnings!
Nearly two-thirds of our building and staff are new to Canton this year. We’re welcoming our 6th graders, Dual Language students, new staff, and new families—and for the first time, all of our classrooms are full!
Our sign says “Welcome, Canton Community,” and today, we truly felt it. A full building, a growing community, and an exciting new chapter!

Esta mañana, nuestro personal dio la bienvenida a los estudiantes con un aplauso al entrar en un edificio lleno de nuevos comienzos.
Casi dos tercios de nuestro personal y de quienes integran nuestra escuela son nuevos en Canton este año. Damos la bienvenida a nuestros alumnos de sexto grado, a los estudiantes del programa de dual, al nuevo personal y a las familias recién llegadas; ¡y, por primera vez, todas nuestras aulas están llenas!
Nuestro letrero dice "Bienvenidos, comunidad de Canton", y hoy realmente lo sentimos así. ¡Un edificio lleno, una comunidad en crecimiento y un nuevo capítulo emocionante!

NEW DAILY SCHEDULE
⏰Students may enter the building beginning at 8:30 a.m.
• 8:30 a.m. — Building opens to students
• 8:55 a.m. — First bell rings
• 9:05 a.m. — Students should be in 1st period and ready to learn
The 8:55 bell gives students 10 minutes to visit their lockers, get situated, and make their way to 1st period.

📚 We are currently adding Advisory classes to student schedules. On the first day of school, an updated schedule will be printed and ready for every student. Schedules will be distributed during 1st period.

📵 During 3rd period Advisory on Thursday, students will receive their Yondr pouch and Student ID.

💙Our team will be ready to help students find their classes, navigate their schedules, and feel at home at Canton. We can’t wait to open our doors on Thursday, August 27, and officially begin another great year together! Remember to Be the PRIDE, and make it a great day, Cougars—the choice, as always, is yours!

⏰Los estudiantes pueden ingresar al edificio a partir de las 8:30 a. m.
• 8:30 a. m.— Los estudiantes pueden ingresar

📚 Actualmente estamos agregando las clases de Asesoría (Advisory) a los horarios de los estudiantes. El primer día de clases, cada estudiante recibirá un horario actualizado e impreso durante el 1.er período.

🏆💙 We’re excited to share that Canton Middle School was recognized at the U-46 End-of-Year Administrator Meeting with the 2026 “Chalk It Up to Engagement” Award! 💙🏆

This award recognizes schools whose communities actively engage with school communication, and we are honored that our weekly Canton Smore Newsletter was among the most-read and interacted-with in the district.

A huge thank you to our families, students, staff, and community members who take the time to stay connected, celebrate our successes, and support the work happening at Canton. Your engagement helps strengthen our school community and ensures we are all working together to support our students.
