Thanks to the Development Corporation of Strawn, Strawn Area Chamber of Commerce and Strawn City Council for agreeing to split the cost! FYI: there are no public dumpsters in Strawn. Every dumpster you see is being paid for by that business or resident. When you put trash in their dumpster without permission, you are depriving the owner of the dumpster the ability to use their dumpster. That is theft of services and can be prosecuted. You may be on camera. Please don’t use someone’s dumpster without permission!

Contractors lifting the new conventional filter package water treatment plant onto its final location in Strawn. This plant takes the place of 40 year old filters and is one of several steps to improve water quality.

02/24/2026

Palo Pinto Mountains State Park will be open to the public beginning March 1st. This will lead to a large increase in traffic on Highway 16 ( Grant Avenue) and FM 2372 ( West Walnut). Those of us that occasionally take an evening stroll should be aware that when there is no sidewalk, we are required to walk against the traffic on the left side of the road. This is meant to give us a chance to dodge oncoming cars should it become necessary. If you are injured by a car and you are walking the wrong way, it may remove the liability of the car and it will probably hurt! Please obey the law for your own safety!

Update: leak is repaired. Water is back on. You may have some air in your lines. If you have an excessive amount of air or discolored water, please notify city hall. This will be an issue for at least the next 24 hours.

City water crew will be turning off water tomorrow morning everyone on the north side of the railroad tracks at approximately 8 am on February 12th to complete the leak repair we started last night. We hope to keep the outage down to about an hour. Thank you for your patience.
