It was an honor to participate in the flag ceremony with members of the Stratford Area Fire Department and Stratford VFW in remembrance of all those lost on 9/11.

This year on the 25th Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks the Stratford Area Fire Dept will be having our traditional Silent Parade on Friday, 9/11/26.

This year because 9/11 falls on a Friday and we have a home football game SAFD will be participating in the flag ceremony with the Stratford VFW before the football game.

The parade is to honor the memory of those who died on, or as a result of, the 9/11 attacks.

The procession will start from Station 1 30 minutes after the Football game ends and will follow the route that will be similar to past years and is highlighted below.

79-YEAR-OLD MAN DIES FOLLOWING A UTV CRASH

At approximately 8:22 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, the Marathon County Emergency 911 Dispatch Center received a call from a citizen regarding a single UTV crash on private property in the 117300 Block of Forward Street in the Village of Stratford. Deputies from the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office and Wardens from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) responded to the scene and located a 79-year-old male, unconscious, but breathing, lying beside the UTV with life-threatening injuries. The male was the lone occupant of the UTV.

The male was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The WI DNR lead the investigation and was assisted by the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office and Stratford EMS.

🚨 Unhealthy Air Quality Alert: Wildfire Smoke

Wildfire smoke is causing unhealthy air quality levels today. At this level, everyone can start to experience health effects.

What you can do:
👉 Limit outdoor activity, especially exercise.
👉 Keep windows and doors closed; run a HEPA or clean-air filter if available.
👉 Check on neighbors who may need extra support.
👉 Consider using an N95 respirator if you must be outside. N95s are available at the Public Health Vending Machines at Community Partners Campus and Healthfirst in Wausau.

***STREET CLOSURES ON 6/27/26***

Please take a look at the images below to be aware of the approved street closures for the Car Show/Summer Jam taking place tomorrow (6/27) in and around Klemme Park.

~The first image with the yellow highlights will have portions of Legion St, Larch St, and Scholar St, closed from 8am - 3pm.

~The second image with the orange highlights shows the portions of roads that will be closed from 8am - midnight.

Please use caution if you are driving around the area as there will be an increase in pedestrian traffic. Parking is allowed in the St. Joe's parking lot as well as in the school parking lot. Parking is permitted on the surrounding streets; however, we do ask you to be mindful of driveways, alleys, yellow curbs, and property.

We do ask you to refrain from parking in the small lot of the municipal building. This lot is reserved for our on-duty officers and squad cars.

We are happy to announce that we finally have a public drop box for sharps disposal! The box is located in the Village Hall which can be accessed during business hours (Monday - Friday 8am to 4:30pm). Please reference the information sheet for disposal requirements.

Along with the medication drop box, this drop box is another way to help keep our community safe! Please contact the Stratford Police Department with any questions.
