In the wake of the tragic school shooting on April 7th, our community saw both heartbreak and incredible strength. Today, we want to recognize the men and women who stood in the gap—both behind the scenes and on the front lines.

To our Garvin County E911 dispatchers — your calmness, quick thinking, and ability to manage pure chaos under unimaginable pressure do not go unnoticed. In those critical moments, you were the steady voice guiding help where it was needed most. While many may never see what you do, we know how vital you are to every single response.

To the Pauls Valley Police Department, Garvin County Sheriff’s Office, and all of our local EMS and fire departments — your rapid response, coordination, and professionalism in the face of danger made a difference when seconds mattered most. You ran toward a situation most would run from, and because of that, lives were saved.

And we cannot speak about that day without recognizing the extraordinary heroism of Principal Kirk Moore, Assistant Principal Chad Chronister, and Coach Green. Their bravery and selfless actions in taking down the shooter undoubtedly saved the lives of students and faculty. Their courage is something this community will never forget.

April 7th will always be a difficult day for Pauls Valley, but it also showed the strength, courage, and unity of those who serve and protect it.

From the bottom of our hearts — thank you all.
