More "Flock" stuff. Have you noticed these cameras? one is on Country club facing east as you exit off of E hwy, and there are a couple more when you are headed east on 58 leaving the City Limits here in town. Interesting 24/7 surveillance and a continuation of the "Patriot Act" subverting our rights.

Lafayette residents want to end the city's contract with Flock Safety, citing privacy and Fourth Amendment concerns. See link below ⬇️

The City of Strasburg is saddened to hear of the passing of a member of our community. Our thoughts and prayers are with their family, friends, and all those affected during this difficult time.

On behalf of the City of Strasburg, we extend our deepest condolences.

And just an FYI, we are working on getting our Police force back up and running.
We are applying for the grant that will cover the expense and get us in line with the Cass County court system for legal prosecution of offenders.

So shenanigans like what happened last Saturday, will not be tolerated in our town. Nobody wants to put up with that kind of insanity and criminal behavior here.

Keep the peace and be peaceful at it!

It seems our Alarm is not functioning correctly so do not rely on it for notification of warnings.. We are looking into it.

ATTENTION! When our old tornado siren was installed, I personally had to activate it (which was exciting at times). A year later, we were able to get a radio that triggers our tornado siren when Pleasant Hill activates theirs. We tested the radio on our end last week, and it worked. The siren would have been verified as fully functional today, but with the severe weather anticipated this afternoon/evening, Pleasant Hill postponed the test (probably next Wednesday at 11am). SO, please stay tuned to local sources this evening just in case. Also, a previous post on this page had a link to get emergency alerts from the Cass County Emergency Management system. Don't be scared--be prepared!

Thanks, and be safe!

The damaged tornado siren in Strasburg was replaced Friday. That siren was originally installed in Peculiar, after the tornado that struck Cass County in 1977, with the most significant damage to Pleasant Hill. It was donated to Strasburg 20 years ago , and functioned perfectly until struck by lightning last spring. The mayor, Greg McClure, thanked the City Council for supporting the replacement, the Cass County Commission, State Representative Bill Irwin and Table Rock Alerting Systems, LLC for helping with this project. Mayor McClure is also the Emergency Coordinator for Strasburg, and he and the Strasburg City Council recognizes the importance of multiple severe weather alert modalities. They take the safety of their residents, and the safety of the students at the Strasburg school very seriously!

Welp..the Governor, Gov. Mike Kehoe VETOED our application for a new tornado siren here in our lil town. So we have scheduled the old one to hopefully be diagnosed and repaired within the next few days. Wish us luck.

Although it was made practically bullet proof, it is still old enough to have witnessed the late Pleistocene extinction level event. So the cavemen who made the original parts ain't around no more.

The Gov. phone # is 573-751-3222.

Update on the tornado siren: Good news, and bad news. Good news--our siren will be serviced, or replaced with a rebuilt one tomorrow (Thursday) or Friday (3/27). Bad news-- our Governor vetoed us getting a new siren. Anyway, don't be surprised if you hear a siren in the next couple of days! We will not test it if severe weather is imminent. Thanks!
