Yesterday, Stowe Electric's Marina Dosch had the pleasure of visiting UVM's Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources for their Capstone event. Among those presenting was a group who developed several maps directly related to Stowe's climate resiliency goals. Their GIS mapping and data analysis is a deep dive into how Stowe Electric can better prepare for seasonal flooding, and identifies structurally unsound trees near critical infrastructure like roads and utility poles.

These students and their Capstone project is part of an ongoing collaboration between the Rubenstein School and Stowe Electric, allowing students to apply their skills to tackling challenges facing local communities. Congratulations to this semester's graduates!

SCAM ALERT:
Some Stowe Electric customers have received aggressive phone calls claiming that they haven't paid their electric bill and will be shut off within 45 minutes. The callers say they are from "the electric company" (sometimes GMP) and are asking for payment via wire transfer. They are specifically directing customers to the nearest Walmart to make payment. These calls are not from Stowe Electric.

SED would never require payment though wire transfer, pre-paid credit card, or direct customers to a particular retailer to transfer funds. If you've received a call like this and have concerns about the status of your account, you can confirm your account information by calling Stowe Electric at 802-253-7215 during business hours.
