Four grade 7 students from Mansfield Middle School were invited to WFSB-TV 3's studio in Newington for a tour and an extensive on-air interview about their experience promoting, successfully, Connecticut's adoption of a State Rock by the Connecticut Legislature. The geology unit, a visit with class guest speaker Dr. Thorson with rock samples, and the essay writing proposing a State Rock took place with all 7th grade science students under teachers Ms Altieri and Mr. Buck. Thank you to Enrichment Teacher Louis Goffinet for facilitating this opportunity. This project has been a great example of how Mansfield Schools Ensures Active Learning and Prepares Global Citizens.

How proud Mansfield is that our own Mansfield MIddle School student Megan Song won this prestigious award from CT DEEP for her painting! Congratulations Megan!

A HUGE congratulations to Megan Song, an 8th grade artist from Mansfield, whose acrylic painting of a common goldeneye taking flight was selected as Best of Show in the 2026 CT Junior Duck Stamp Art Competition.

Her piece, “Taking Off from Water,” will be featured on the 2027 CT Migratory Bird Conservation Stamp and will represent CT in the Federal Junior Duck Stamp Contest.

This program is such a great connection between young artists, outdoor education, wetland conservation, and the wildlife that depends on healthy habitats across CT.

Congrats to Megan and to all the students who participated! 👏
