It's the middle of January already! Don't forget the 2nd installment of real estate taxes is due by February 1, 2022. There are several ways to pay: by mail, in person, use the drop box at the top of town hall stairs, or pay online at www.stonington-ct.gov

Motor vehicle supplemental bills are also due by February 1, 2022. Remember, CT state statute says we must go by postmark, so don't wait until the last day to mail the payment because it typically goes to Hartford to be postmarked.

Remember, the tax office does not rebill for the 2nd installment. The entire bill was mailed to taxpayers in July. All tax bills may be found online at www.stonington-ct.gov

If inclement weather causes a delayed opening or even a full closure of town hall on Monday (the last day to pay taxes without 3% interest added), fear not, there are still ways to pay. There is a drop box in front of town hall with envelopes provided. Taxpayers may also go to the post office and have them hand stamp your envelope so that you get the February 1st postmark. If you drop it in a mailbox, you will not get the February 1st postmark. And lastly, the taxpayer may pay online. The credit card company charges $2.00 for an e-Check; $3.95 for a debit card; 2.55 for a credit card.

We are mid way through the July 2020 collection period. Taxes may be paid up to August 3, 2020 without being delinquent. Due to COVID, many people are paying the full year of real estate taxes. Others believe all taxes have been deferred per the Governor's Executive Order. That is not the case. Only those who applied for deferment are eligible, and that deadline was July 1, 2020.
There are many ways to pay: in person at Town Hall, using the drop box out front, by mail or using our online payment system at www.stonington-ct.gov Thanks to all the Stonington taxpayers! We live in a beautiful town.

We have implemented a way of keeping our residents informed of events and meetings that are occurring in the town. Whenever a new event or document is posted to the Web site you have an opportunity to receive a copy of that posting in your personal EMail box, automatically. It won't be necessary to....

HOW TO PAY TAXES WHEN TOWN HALL IS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC
POSTED ON: MARCH 13, 2020 - 2:51PM
Beginning Monday, March 16th, Stonington Town Hall will be closed to the public for an undetermined amount of time. In trying to make this as easy as possible for the taxpayer, delinquent taxes may be mailed in or paid online at www.stonington-ct.gov. There is a flat $3.95 fee for paying with a debit card; a 2.5% fee for paying with a credit card, and a $2.00 for paying with an e-check. If you have a received a letter from the State Marshal, all payments must now be made with him. If you need an immediate clearance with the DMV, pay him by money order. If not, mail a check to the Marshal. If your account is with an attorney, all payments must be made through him or her. We will be in the tax office to take your calls and help you as best we can under these extraordinary circumstances. Stay safe and well!
