For today's , Ranger Amber introduces us to a special guest named the Texas Patch Nose Snake!

We recently found this beautiful snake at the Farm, and luckily they were calm enough to do a quick impromptu Ranger talk for our social media. Once we were done, we took the snake away from the Farm so they could enjoy life away from our buildings and visitors!

Look who’s back!!!

Welcome back Duke, a Hereford bull from the LBJ Ranch. Duke comes from a long line of Hereford cattle raised by Lyndon B Johnson, and can be identified by the brands on his down-turned horns.

This bull is no stranger to our farm, and has helped sire several calves in the last few years. Now that he is back, we should hopefully have another calf born in nine months (just like humans!) 🐮

New month, new programs! Check out what we have in store for September at LBJ State Park and the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm.

For programs at the Farm, we have Laundry Day on Monday the 7th (Labor Day) and then Basics of Handsewing on Monday the 21st.

At the Visitor Center, you can check out our annual Seed Stomp event on Saturday the 19th and our Skins and Skulls touch table on Sunday the 13th.

All of these programs are come-and-go as you please, and totally FREE!

It's National Okra Day!

Perhaps one of the more "controversial" vegetables, okra is known for its slimy texture and jelly-like seeds. For some, this is a delicious food, for others, this is a hard NO. For those who DO like this vegetable, feel free to enjoy today by eating some gumbo or fried okra.

Oh, and if you're interested in growing some okra of your own, we have seeds directly from our living history farm for sale at the state park gift shop!

Although it may not feel like it, the summer season is coming to a close with schools now back to session. And with students back in class, it's time for teachers to begin booking field trips!

To make the booking process easier, we are happy to announce the launch of our new "Field Trips" tab on the LBJ State Park website! This tab gives you all the information you need to know for a school field trip, including grade-specific TEKS alignments, date availability, and how to reserve a tour.

All schools are welcome to book; including public, private, homeschool, and special needs groups. But be sure to act fast! Our living history farm is a very popular site for schools to visit, so we book up quickly.
