Come visit two new oak leaf hydrangeas either side of the entrance to the Post Office. They should have plenty of room to grow another 3 or 4 feet, especially if LHA board members will stop blocking their sun.

Before manicured fairways became commonplace, the Housatonic River landscape offered Stockbridge residents and visitors a place to gather, recreate, and enjoy the beauty of the Berkshires. This early view of the golf links captures a community that understood the value of preserving scenic landscapes while creating spaces for public enjoyment.

Discover how the Laurel Hill Association helped shape the character of Stockbridge and influenced the national village improvement movement. Join us Saturday, June 20 at 3 p.m. at the Stockbridge Library for a presentation and book signing with author Kirin Joya Makker. Books available for purchase

A fresh chapter for Main Street is taking root.

Ahead of schedule, work began at the Stockbridge Library as the Laurel Hill Association moved forward with replacing the former tree with a new Red Maple. From stump grinding and excavation to planting preparations, each step reflects the ongoing care and stewardship that help preserve the beauty and character of Stockbridge for future generations.

Sometimes it is the quiet projects that have the most lasting impact.
Many thanks to the Town of Stockbridge and Tree Warden Lisa Bozzuto for their assistance coordinating the project.

Bee amazed!

Before 1852, harvesting honey often meant destroying entire beehives. 🍯

That all changed when Lorenzo Lorraine Langstroth, a pastor who lived and worked in both Greenfield and Andover Massachusetts, discovered the precise measurement bees naturally leave between combs. He called it “bee space.”

He patented it into the design of the Langstroth hive which featured removable frames that allowed beekeepers to inspect colonies, protect bee health, and harvest honey without destroying the hive itself.

More than 170 years later, the vast majority of beehives used around the world still follow Langstroth’s design.

That’s some buzzworthy Massachusetts innovation.🐝

A small change with a meaningful impact. In the coming weeks, the Laurel Hill Association will be replacing the failed tree (now gone) in front of the Library with a healthy Red Maple. This update ensures the space remains vibrant, welcoming, and true to the character of our village for years to come.
