The Memorial Day Parade in Long Hill Township will temporarily close Main Avenue/ Central Avenue today, May 25, 2026, from 9:00 AM until approximately 10:30 AM between Central Middle School and the parade route. Please plan your travel accordingly and expect possible delays.

‼️Traffic Alert‼️

⚠️Beginning Thursday, May 14, 2026, Chestnut Street between Central Avenue and Winding Way will be closed to thru traffic from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for roadway milling and paving operations. The milling phase is scheduled for Thursday, May 14, and Friday, May 15. Paving operations are expected to begin Monday, May 18, and conclude by Tuesday, May 19, weather permitting. Local residents and buses will be permitted access within the closure area when safe and practical. Police officers will be on site to assist motorists.

⚠️The schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen construction-related factors as determined by the contractor.

⚠️Motorists and residents should expect temporary traffic disruptions, including road closures, detours, construction noise, and minor delays in the project area. The contractor will make every reasonable effort to minimize inconvenience and restore affected areas promptly upon completion of the work.

⚠️Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow additional travel time during construction hours. We appreciate the patience and cooperation as these roadway improvements are completed.

NJAW Infrastructure Upgrade - Phase 2

⚠️Meyersville Road between Long Hill Road and New Vernon Road is closed to all thru-traffic.
⚠️Springbrook Drive is closed between Meyersville Road and Blue Star Drive to all thru-traffic.

Detour:
From Mountain Avenue: Long Hill Road to Hickory Tavern Road.
From New Vernon: Hickory Tavern Road to Long Hill Road.

⚠️Construction is scheduled to take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Detours have been established by the contractor.

⚠️The schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions or other construction-related factors as determined by the contractor. Motorists and residents should expect temporary traffic disruptions, including road closures, detours, construction noise, and minor delays in the project area. Buses will be allowed through active construction areas when safe and practical. The contractor will make every reasonable effort to minimize inconvenience and restore affected areas promptly upon completion of the work.

Main Avenue will be closed to all traffic from Valley Road to Somerset Street on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 7:00 AM to approximately 6:00 PM for the Stirling Street Fair. Detours will be in place, and LHPD officers will be on scene to assist.

‼️Traffic Alert - Update 4/13/2026‼️:

NJAW Infrastructure Upgrade - Phase 2

⚠️Please be advised that New Jersey American Water has contracted with The Shauger Group to perform sewer-line upgrades on various roadways within the municipality. This work is part of an ongoing program to improve the reliability and functionality of the local sewer system.

⚠️Construction is scheduled to commence on or about April 14, 2026, and will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

During Phase 2 of the project, sewer-line upgrades are planned for the following roadways:
⚠️Meyersville Road between Long Hill Road and Blue Star Drive.
⚠️Construction will begin on Meyersville Road at the intersection of Blue Star Drive, then continue southwest along Meyersville Road, ending just before the intersection with Long Hill Road.
⚠️Spring Brook Drive starting at the intersection of Meyersville Road and continuing east to Blue Star Drive.

We would like to recognize and honor Lieutenant Marczewski and wish him all the best on his retirement from the Long Hill Township Police Department after 23 years of dedicated service to the community.

Lt. Marczewski began his career in public service with the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1992 to 1995. He later joined the Long Hill Township Police Department as a dispatcher in May 2003, and became a patrol officer in June 2004 after completing training at the Union County Police Academy.

In 2008, he was assigned to the Detective Bureau, where he spent five years handling complex investigations. He was promoted to sergeant in 2013, and to lieutenant in 2018, continuing to take on greater leadership responsibilities within the department.

Over the years, he served in a variety of roles throughout the agency in addition to becoming the OEM coordinator.

Throughout his career, Lt. Marczewski brought professionalism, experience, and a strong commitment to the community in every role he held. He was a steady and respected presence within the department, and his contributions have left a lasting impact on both his colleagues and the residents he served.

Thank you for your years of dedicated service. Wishing you a well-earned retirement filled with good health and time to enjoy what matters most.
