Join us for story time this Friday, August 28th. We'll be reading the classic story, We Were Tired of Living in a House. So begins this whimsical tale of four small children, a dog and a cat who decided they were tired of living in a house. They try a tree, a pond, a cave and the seashore, but in each place something unusual happens to make them move on to the next place—and finally home.

Each appealing moment and every small detail are captured by Doris Burn's original drawings from 1969.

For those in and around our community impacted by yesterday’s tornado.

Update as of 6.18.26 at 4:55 PM:

The American Red Cross will be present at the Stinesville Community Center between 9 AM to 7PM until further notice.

American Red Cross Shelter Open in Stinesville

If you or your family members were impacted by the severe storms that impacted northwestern Monroe County, a temporary American Red Cross shelter is open where impacted individuals and families can seek assistance and temporary shelter.

The shelter is open now and is located at the Stinesville Community Building (Old Stinesville Elementary School) and will be open to disaster survivors until further notice.

Survivors will need to enter through the back door near the Cafeteria.

The Mercantile of Stinesville is pleased to announce that from May 22nd through the first week of August, it will offer free lunches to children in preschool through high school, every weekday from 11am to 1pm, no purchase necessary.
