Dinosaurs didn't read. Dinosaurs went extinct. Coincidence? We wouldn't risk it!

Grab something to keep your reading skills alive over the summer and go back in time with the Book Bus's prehistoric theme this week!

*We recognize that only the nonavian lines of dinosaurs went extinct, with most of us seeing at least a few of our feathered friends, birds, the surviving dinosaurs, every day, but "Nonavian dinosaurs went extinct..." didn't quite have the same flow. :)

We know not everyone could make it to visit 1224 N. Husband to see the SHS building one last time, so a few weeks ago, Principal Howell took us on an in depth visit of the site. While we couldn't pop into every classroom, he did a great job of showing and sharing how the building has changed and aged over the years. He also shares a few hints about the future SHS building, and brags about the amazing things our Pioneers achieve each year.

We loved hosting hundreds of alumni, former teachers, and their families recently for a final farewell to the 1224 N. Husband C.E. Donart/SHS building. It was so much fun connecting and sharing stories about the history in its halls. While that chapter is closing, we can't wait to open the doors at 410 W. Franklin Lane and welcome you all to the future of SHS very soon!

This week, teachers from across the district gathered for LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) professional development. This highly regarded program trains teachers in the Science of Reading, an evidence-based approach to teaching students how to read, write, and spell. The program breaks down why and how children learn to read, focusing on the essential components of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

Thank you to our teachers for putting in hard work to enhance their skills and continuing to make Stillwater a great place for children to learn and grow.
