Arcola Mills allows the visitors to step back in time while communing with the splendor of one of the area's greatest natural resources.

MN oldest timber-frame house. Built in 1847 11 years before MN became a state. It was home to John Mower a member of the Minnesota Territorial Council that made MN a state. This historic property was also the 3rd sawmill built on the St Croix.

From a newspaper article dated Jan. 1878. The Arcola steam mills has been rented by The St. Croix lumber company, of South Stillwater, only till they can complete their large stock mill in South Stillwater, which is also to be construed of stone, and will be fire-proof. A contract has been made with Martin Mower, Esq., to furnish a large quantity of stone from his quarry for this mill.

Arcola Mills is the most tranquil place I have ever been and I have traveled 4 continents.
You walk the trail you hear the gravel and ground crunch under your feet. In the background you hear the water babbling along in a stream creating calmness. Overhead you hear the songbirds’ harmonious melodies performing an orchestration in 360-degree surround sound. You continue along the path the sun's rays dance through the leafy canopy, casting dappled shadows and highlighting the vibrant blooms, the colors make you smile, the butterflies fluttering about giving you an understanding that life continues.
In nature your brain calls both sides of your brain into action bringing with it heighten senses. Your mind clears of the worries of yesterday and the uncertainties of tomorrow, anchoring you in the beauty and peace of the present.
