💚⛳ Two Missions. One Heart for Hope. ⛳💚

In May, H.O.P.E. was incredibly honored to be recognized at this year's Be Blessed Golf Tournament, but the blessings didn't stop there. Yesterday, the amazing Be Blessed team spent their volunteer workday at the H.O.P.E. Haven, helping us enhance and beautify our property for the families we serve.

From spreading mulch and planting flowers to power washing, weeding, scrubbing outdoor furniture, splitting wood, and tackling countless other projects, their generosity transformed more than just our grounds, it lifted hearts and strengthened our community.

We also enjoyed a delicious lunch catered by Brown's, as we gathered together outside on the beautiful day. It was a wonderful opportunity for many new faces from Be Blessed to learn more about H.O.P.E., our mission, and the families we are privileged to serve. Meaningful conversations, new connections, and shared purpose made the day even more special.

At H.O.P.E., we strive to support cancer patients and their families through life's most challenging journeys. Be Blessed Mission exists to "ignite hope, renew dignity, and foster healing by responding to essential human needs in the moment they arise." What a powerful reflection of the work we both seek to do every day.

To the entire Be Blessed team: thank you for your servant hearts, your hard work, and your partnership. Your kindness will continue to impact every family who finds comfort and peace at the H.O.P.E. Haven.

Together, we are proving that hope grows stronger; a beautiful reminder of what can happen when organizations with similar missions come together to serve others. 💚

As graduations are right around the corner, we take this moment to congratulate our 2026 Jeanette Cartwright Scholarship Recipients! 💛

This month, we were honored to celebrate these remarkable students during a beautiful evening at the H.O.P.E. Haven, surrounded by family, supporters, and friends. Each recipient has faced the impact of cancer within their family, yet continues to move forward with compassion, resilience, and determination to make a difference in the lives of others.

Their stories touched our hearts deeply, reminding us of the strength that can rise through adversity and the power of hope for the future.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to our H.O.P.E. Scholarship Board Committee for their dedication and compassion throughout this difficult selection process. With so many deserving applicants, the decision was never easy. Each story shared brought tears, inspiration, and admiration for the journeys these students and their families have endured. Thank you for the care and heart you pour into this meaningful mission.

A special thank you to Tom McShane for over 20 years of faithful service on the H.O.P.E. Scholarship Board Committee. Tom, your dedication, wisdom, and heart have blessed countless students and families over the years. As you begin to enjoy retirement a little more, we thank and appreciate you beyond words! 💛

Even though this Memorial Day weekend looks rainy and dreary here in PA ☔, we still want to take a moment to highlight ☀️ Melanoma & Skin Cancer Awareness Month and today’s observance of Don’t Fry Day.

💛 Melanoma & Skin Cancer Awareness serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of prevention and early detection. Protecting your skin, knowing the signs, and scheduling regular skin checks can truly save lives. When caught early, melanoma and other skin cancers are highly treatable, reinforcing the importance of awareness and proactive care.

🌤️ Today, May 22, is Don’t Fry Day ~ recognized the Friday before Memorial Day to raise awareness about sun safety and skin cancer prevention. As we head into the unofficial start of summer, it’s the perfect reminder to protect yourself and your loved ones while enjoying time outdoors.

☀️ Helpful sun safety reminders:
• Apply sunscreen at least 20 minutes before going outside
• Reapply regularly, especially after swimming or sweating
• Wear protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses (don't forget about your eyes!)
• Seek shade whenever possible
• Use extra caution near water and sand, which reflect the sun’s rays and increase the risk of sunburn

Rain or shine, taking care of your skin matters every day. Stay safe, stay aware, and enjoy a meaningful Memorial Day weekend! 💛

💛 Blessings of April & May with Young Leaders 💛

Our hearts have been so full these past two months as we’ve welcomed incredible young leaders to H.O.P.E.!

In April, we were blessed by a visit from a local Girl Scout troop, who arrived with generous donations for our food pantry, including cookies, and nearly 20 thoughtfully created “sunshine boxes” for our patients. Each one was uniquely filled with kindness, encouragement, and love.

Then just this week, we had the joy of welcoming another troop, this time from the West York area to the Haven! Bringing more blessings to our food pantry!

It was such a blessing to give both troops a tour, share the mission of H.O.P.E., and show firsthand how their compassion is truly making a difference in the lives of families facing cancer.

Sharing H.O.P.E. with young leaders is especially meaningful, as both Barb and Abby were once Girl Scouts themselves. Seeing the next generation serve with such caring hearts reminds us that hope continues to grow through kindness, community, and giving back. 💚
