The ballot language for tomorrow's vote may be confusing, this was not our choice!! VOTE NO for the Village of Stevensville to receive local and state tax revenue so the $5.4 Million in road repairs needed will get done in a timely fashion WITHOUT a HUGE increase in property taxes and letting them get worse while it is not in the budget to do those repairs!

3 reasons to "VOTE NO" tomorrow May 2nd on 2023-1!

The Q & A’s that we are sharing are NOT OPINIONS…THESE ARE FACTS.

Question:
“What other funding options were considered before Ma*****na Retailers?”

Answer:
“The Village of Stevensville looked at a number of different options to Fill the General Fund gap, including:

1. FEDERAL AID- The Village continues to utilize available federal funding and grants.

2. STATE AID - The Village continues to utilize available federal funding and grants.

3. MUNICIPAL BONDS - Used for large projects with expected future revenue, NOT FOR ROADS UNLESS PAIRED WITH MILAGE.

4. PROPERTY TAXES- The Village does NOT control valuation, it is a state formula.

5. REDUCE EXPENDITURES - Not enough would be saved unless there is a DRASTIC reduction in Staff and Services.

6. MA*****NA EXCISE TAX - The Village would generate AT LEAST $100,000 Annually with 2 Retailers. (We will be sharing more numbers & further information about what other local municipalities have seen as far as revenue etc.).

7. ROAD MILAGE - 2.7 MILS would generate around $120k annually. TAX INCREASE OF an estimated $270 per $100k of assessed value.

So everyone is aware, there are a maximum of ONLY 2 Retailers that would be allowed.

It is also very important to know that these 2 locations that the Village Council spent a lot of time and research on before deciding on are NOT within walking distance of the Village!
