Hello all, it's with mixed emotions that I submitted my resignation as alderperson, effective the end of August. As I continue working toward my LCSW, and my husband and I are taking on the daunting task of trying to buy a house, I had to let something go. It has been such an honor to serve my district and city, and I have made so many friends along the way!
Thank you to all who supported me in what has been my favorite job!

It was incredible to participate in this ground breaking ceremony yesterday. The heartfelt emotions shared by the Sisters, city staff, CREATE, and many others was truly palpable. Regardless of your spiritual beliefs, this is definitely a special place and will continue to be so.

The development will be called Berkshire at the Grove. It will include 85 apartment-style units of affordable senior and family housing.

Have you noticed some activity at the convent site? For many Stevens Point residents, the convent represents sacred grounds, rich history and childhood memories. Many also have seen it as an area of incredible potential as an undeveloped space that could become a symbol of growth in our community. As council, we have honored the cultural significance of this site as we made decisions regarding its future. I am most thankful that we have listened to and honored the wishes of the Sisters who called the convent home for so many years. Coming soon: The Grove.

Mayor Mike Wiza asks all city residents to not park on City streets from 4:00 PM Friday, December 10 until 11:59 PM on Sunday, December 12. The Mayor will not be declaring a snow emergency.
