Sterling Public Schools is the public school system for the city of Sterling, IL. It is a Pre-K thru 12th grade unit district of approximately 3500 students, configured into six different buildings. Franklin Elementary and Jefferson Elementary serve as the district's two Pre-K thru 2nd grade learning centers, while Washington Elementary and Lincoln Elementary house grades three thru five. Challand

Middle School, which is centrally located in the district, encompasses a true middle school philosophy for all 6th thru 8th grade students in the district. Lastly, Sterling High School is a picturesque campus that accommodates many successful academic, fine arts, and athletic programs.

Woodworking students took ownership of their learning while working together, solving problems, and supporting one another. Their amazing teacher coached them along the way and created a safe, organized shop with clear directions at every station. A great example of teamwork, independence, and students doing the work!

Sterling Public Schools is partnering with families to reach our goal of 95% student attendance. What does that mean? In a typical 20-day school month, students should miss no more than 1 day. Over our 176-day school year, that means missing no more than 9 days.
