This morning, first responders from across our community came together for a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.

With every step, we honored the firefighters, law enforcement officers, first responders and innocent lives lost on September 11th, 2001.

In a small community, we know the importance of showing up for one another. Today, we showed up to remember those who answered the call 25 years ago.

Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

A special thanks to Stephenville ISD for allowing the usage of Mike Copeland Field at Art Briles Stadium and to Stephenville PD for helping organize the event.

The Erath County Sheriff’s Office, along with area fire departments and the Texas Forest Service, has units on scene at a fire in the area of State Highway 220 and County Road 218. We are providing drone support and traffic control as well any resources available. Please avoid the area if possible and yield to Emergency Vehicles.

Pictured below is The Sheriff’s Office Drone support vehicle. It is assigned to an Investigator who is also a Drone Pilot and is capable of getting into difficult to reach places in order to provide Drone support for circumstances like today along with use in Criminal Investigations.

A portion of the upfit was donated by Paradise Conversions LLC and the lift kit was donated by Jackalope Customs & Accessories

The Erath County Sheriff’s Office is aware of the smoke in the air today. This is because a cool front has passed through and changed the wind direction to blow from north to south.

The smoke you are seeing and smelling is from the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto County.

Please DO NOT call 911 unless you actually see a fire in Erath County.

The Erath County Sheriff’s Office is aware of individuals calling citizens and telling them they missed jury duty, stating that there is now a warrant out for the citizens arrest, and demanding money from the citizen or they will be arrested.
THIS IS A SCAM.
No one from the courts or the Sheriff’s Office will EVER ask youfor money.
If you receive one of these calls, HANG UP on the caller.
