🇺🇸 Proper Retirement of the American Flag 🇺🇸

When an American flag becomes worn, faded, or no longer suitable for display, it should be retired with dignity and respect.

Godfrey Anderson American Legion Post 43 provides a flag drop box for proper disposal. Community members are welcome to bring their unserviceable flags and place them in the box, and they will be respectfully retired in accordance with U.S. Flag Code traditions.

Please do not throw flags in the trash—let us help ensure they are honored properly for their service.

If you have a flag that needs to be retired, please use our drop box or contact the Post for assistance. 🇺🇸

Across Mid Menominee County today, our Legion members spent the day visiting area cemeteries, standing beside the flags and graves of those who served our nation with courage and sacrifice.

These moments are a reminder that Memorial Day is rooted in honoring lives that were given in service to others. We are grateful for the opportunity to carry on these traditions, share in fellowship, and show our continued respect for America’s fallen heroes.

May we never forget those who gave everything for our freedom. 🇺🇸

Tonight, we had the incredible honor of recognizing Al Raether for 60 years of dedicated service to the American Legion.

Sixty years of commitment, sacrifice, and unwavering support is something truly special—and something not many can say they’ve given. Al has been a steady presence, a source of wisdom, and a true example of what it means to serve not only your country, but your community as well.

Because of individuals like Al, the American Legion continues to thrive and make a difference for veterans and their families. His legacy is one of loyalty, pride, and heart—and it will continue to inspire generations to come.

Thank you, Al, for everything you’ve given over the years. We are beyond grateful and proud to honor you. 🇺🇸

Our auxiliary members are doing amazing things! Make sure to like and follow Godfrey Anderson American Legion Post 43 Auxiliary!

Sometimes the biggest impacts come from quiet dedication and a whole lot of heart. We want to take a moment to recognize Sandy Baumler, one of our American Legion Post 43 Auxiliary members, for the incredible time, effort, and passion she poured into making the new downtown banners in Stephenson a reality. From start to finish, this project was truly a labor of love and a reflection of her commitment to honoring our veterans and strengthening our community.

We are also deeply thankful to the City of Stephenson for installing the banners and helping bring this vision to life. Seeing them displayed throughout downtown is a powerful reminder of service, sacrifice, and community pride. Thank you, Sandy, and thank you to everyone who helped make this meaningful project possible. 🇺🇸

This amazing group came together to assemble Christmas care packages for soldiers from our area who are currently deployed overseas — a small way to remind them that even far from home, they’re wrapped in the love and support of their community.

Their dedication, heart, and holiday spirit shine through in everything they do. Thank you for supporting our troops and making the season a little brighter for those serving away from home. ❤️🤍💙🎄
