Huge news! Kristi Bertron, SSSD's Student Data Technician for Exceptional Student Services and Medicaid Coordinator, was honored at tonight’s Board of Education meeting as a Colorado Association of School Business Officials (CASBO) Summit Award winner! 👏

Her award-winning Medicaid Reimbursement Initiative brings in a projected $180,000 annually to the district—funding a Bilingual Family Liaison, an additional school nurse, and mental health resources! Plus, a $1,000 donation is being gifted to a local school or foundation.

¡Una noticia fantástica! The Steamboat Springs School District Board of Education will hold a business meeting on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 4:30 pm at Steamboat Springs Middle School, 39610 Amethyst Dr. Reports and Communications will include District News, a Housing Update, a District Performance Frameworks Results presentation, and a review of Amendment 87. The meeting will be held in person and will also be livestreamed on the District website. If you would like to participate in public comment, you will need to attend the meeting in person and sign up to speak.

On a cool, overcast day, 25 years after the 9-11 attacks, over 10,000 flags stand at Yampa Valley Bank, placed with care by local students, first responders, and community members. Together, we honor the lives lost on that tragic day and the thousands more lost since due to exposure in the aftermath. The display will remain up through the weekend as a quiet message of reflection and remembrance. We will never forget.

In Shannon Keesee’s STEM class, students built digital citizenship skills through a hands-on "Firewall Relay Race," learning to block suspicious messages and allow safe data through.

Aligned with the Colorado Academic Standards for Computer Science, our elementary students are learning to:

➡Be an Upstander: Practice online kindness and stand up to cyberbullying.

💻¡La seguridad tecnológica se une a las carreras de relevos en la escuela primaria Strawberry Park! 🏃

En la clase de STEM de Shannon Keesee, los alumnos desarrollaron habilidades de ciudadanía digital a través de una «carrera de relevos del cortafuegos» práctica, en la que aprendieron a bloquear mensajes sospechosos y a permitir el paso de datos seguros.

Strawberry Park Elementary's third Annual 5th Grade Camping Trip was a success! Students spent two days in the great outdoors, conquering the high ropes course, hiking to waterfalls, and setting up their own tents.

Our campers showed incredible bravery, teamwork, and independence while learning Leave No Trace principles, sharing walking tacos, and performing campfire skits.

Thank you to our 5th grade team (Ms. Clark, Ms. Colon, Ms. Abalos), Assistant Principal Jaime Passchier, Ms. Bridget, and our parent chaperones for their hard work.

¡La tercera edición anual de la acampada de 5.º de primaria de la escuela primaria Strawberry Park fue todo un éxito! Los alumnos pasaron dos días al aire libre, superando el circuito de cuerdas, haciendo senderismo hasta las cascadas y montando sus propias tiendas de campaña.

Nuestros campistas demostraron una valentía, un espíritu de equipo y una independencia increíbles mientras aprendían los principios de «No dejar rastro», compartían tacos para llevar y representaban sketches alrededor de la hoguera.

GREAT NEWS! Steamboat Springs School District has once again been recognized as Accredited with Distinction by the Colorado Department of Education!

This is the second year in a row SSSD has earned the state’s highest accreditation rating. Only 12 districts in Colorado achieved this honor, placing SSSD in the top 7% statewide!

Districts must reach at least 74% of available framework points to earn Distinction. SSSD earned 77.9%, reflecting outstanding results in academic achievement, growth, and postsecondary readiness across our schools.

¡GRANDES NOTICIAS! ¡El Distrito Escolar de Steamboat Springs ha sido reconocido nuevamente como Acreditado con Distinción por el Departamento de Educación de Colorado!

Este es el segundo año consecutivo que SSSD obtiene la calificación de acreditación más alta del estado. Solo 12 distritos en Colorado recibieron este honor, lo que ubica a SSSD en el 7% superior a nivel estatal!

Last Thursday, the Steamboat Springs High School front lawn was buzzing with excitement for the Community BBQ & Community Partners Fair. Our incredible first responder volunteers took over the grills, cooking up a fantastic meal to celebrate the real heroes of our town: our local teachers, first responders, and community partners.

Families filled up on great food while connecting with awesome local organizations to get ready for the year ahead. Huge thank you to everyone who showed up, volunteered, and made this evening so special!

Here’s to a strong start to the new school year!

El pasado jueves, el jardín delantero del instituto Steamboat Springs High School bullía de emoción con motivo de la barbacoa comunitaria y la feria de socios comunitarios organizadas por Alpine Bank. Nuestros increíbles voluntarios de los servicios de emergencia se hicieron cargo de las parrillas y prepararon una comida fantástica para homenajear a los auténticos héroes de nuestra ciudad: nuestros profesores locales, los miembros de los servicios de emergencia y los socios comunitarios.
