Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Tyler Tamayo, our new Varsity Football Assistant Coach and Defensive Backs Coach! 🏈🔒

Coach Tamayo brings a strong pedigree to our secondary, both as a standout player and a proven developer of young talent. Originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, Tyler played safety for Damien Memorial School before moving to Oregon to play safety for the Linfield University Wildcats for four years.

Tyler is already a familiar face to many of our families and athletes, having spent the last four years building up our future Eagles at Stayton Middle School—three years as the defensive coordinator and one year as the head coach. Now, he's bringing that college-level expertise and passion to the varsity sidelines.

We caught up with Coach Tamayo to ask what he's most excited about this season:
"I'm proud to become a Stayton Eagles varsity assistant coach and look forward to coaching the defensive backs this upcoming season. Developing young athletes is my passion, and I take great pride in helping youth grow and learn. My ultimate goal this season is to teach the young men on this team the lessons I learned as a college athlete to help prepare them for their time as Eagles and the next chapter of life after high school. This football season, I am ready to dedicate time to the athletes, coaches, and community of Stayton, a place that shares values similar to my own. I am very excited to work with Head Coach Randy Nyquist and the rest of the coaching staff. There is so much to learn from such an experienced and knowledgeable group of coaches. Becoming a part of this journey and seeing how far it can take us is what I look forward to."

Coach Tamayo’s dedication to teaching the game and mentoring young men fits perfectly with the culture of Stayton Football. We are incredibly excited to see him lock down the secondary and work alongside Coach Nyquist and the staff this fall!

🦅 THE TRADITION CONTINUES FOR THE HIGHLIGHTS! 🦅

Please join us in welcoming a very familiar face to a brand new role: Ashlee Moore is our new Varsity Dance Head Coach for the Stayton Highlights! 🩰✨

Coach Moore’s deep roots in the Stayton community make her the perfect leader to carry on the rich tradition of our dance program. Her dance journey started 15 years ago right here in a local studio, before she danced for the Stayton Diamond Dancers in middle school. In high school, she was a proud cheerleader and dancer for the Stayton Highlights!

She began giving back immediately as a Highlights volunteer, before taking over as the Head Coach of the Stayton Diamond Dancers at SMS. Over the last three years, Coach Moore built a highly competitive program and sparked massive growth at the middle school level. Now, she's bringing that incredible momentum up to the high school!

We caught up with Coach Moore to talk about her vision for the Highlights:

Why do you coach?
"I started coaching because I wanted to share something I'm so passionate about, and my knowledge with the younger generations. Being a coach brings me so much joy by seeing the hard work and dedication these young athletes put in, and the joy it brings them by being a team, achieving goals at practice, and seeing the progress they make."

What are your goals for our dancers?
""My goal is to support our athletes to learn and grow through teamwork, hard work, dedication, discipline, and responsibility."

🩰 3 Fun Facts About Coach Moore:
- She has a 4-year-old Corgi named Finnlee—spelled with two "ee's" so they are name twins!
- She loves the outdoors! You can find her hiking, boating, wakeboarding, snowboarding, or riding her dirt bike.
- She has family who lives in Austria!

To have a former Highlight return home after successfully building up our middle school program is an absolute dream scenario for Stayton High School. We are thrilled to see where her passion, discipline, and energy take the Highlights!

🦅 HE’S HOME, EAGLE FAMILY! 🦅

Please join us in giving a huge "Welcome Back" to Stayton High School alumnus Kyle McGrath, our new Varsity Football Assistant Coach and Wide Receivers Coach! 🏈

Coach McGrath is excited to bring his Eagle pride and passion to the sideline this fall. After playing 4 years right here for the Eagles, Kyle continued his football career at The College of the Siskiyous. He returns to his alma mater with 11 years of varsity coaching experience, bringing an incredible championship pedigree back to our sidelines.

Kyle’s impressive coaching resume includes successful chapters at McNary High School as a varsity assistant and offensive coordinator, as well as a successful tenure at Regis High School, where he won a state championship as a head coach. 🏆

Now, Coach McGrath is ready to bring that wealth of knowledge, passion, and experience back to where it all began.

We caught up with Kyle and asked him to share what he is most excited about for this coming year. In his own words: "I look forward to giving back to my hometown and connecting with the community as I partner with the coaching staff to support our young athletes and help them reach their full potential both on and off the field."

Having an alumnus of Kyle’s caliber return to lead our young men is a massive win for our school and our community. We can't wait to see the impact he will make on our wide receivers and the entire football program this fall.

Please join us in giving a massive Stayton welcome to our new Varsity Volleyball Head Coach, Kiley Power! 🏐

Coach Power is bringing incredible energy, a wealth of experience, and a deep passion for the game to our Eagles program. As a former collegiate athlete at Corban University (where she played both indoor and beach volleyball!), Kiley has spent over 14 years living and breathing volleyball. From youth developmental programs to elite skills camps, she knows exactly what it takes to help athletes build confidence, refine their skills, and reach their full potential.

We caught up with Coach Kiley Power to ask her a few questions as she leads our Lady Eagles:

Why do you coach?
“I coach to help athletes continue loving the game while becoming confident young women. My experiences with past coaches showed me the impact positive leadership can have, and I’m excited to bring energy, support, and encouragement to every athlete I coach."

What are your goals for Year 1?
"To grow through every challenge and build a strong foundation for the future of the program. I want our team to become a place where athletes feel motivated, supported, and pushed to be their best on and off the court."

What inspires you?
“My faith, family, and Kerri Walsh Jennings inspire me to lead with passion, resilience, and purpose every day.”

Congratulations, Stayton Highschool OHSET on a fantastic year! You all accomplished so much as a team, and we could not be more proud of you.

Eagle Pride! 🦅

We had a great time at our FIRST Annual Stayton Highschool OHSET Awards night! This incredible group of kids were the very first in my nearly seven season coaching career to receive Varsity letters from Stayton High School! This moment was something I’ve worked tirelessly to advocate for my entire career at Stayton OHSET! I’m so happy we are being embraced by school and Stayton Booster Club again and can’t wait for the future!!

Thank you for my Head Advisor Shantell Exe and Treasurer Amanda Jean Spees and Parent Advisor Kristin Kosel for helping me all year!
