🛑 JURY SCAM ALERT 🛑
We’ve been alerted to a very convincing scam circulating in our area. Individuals are calling residents and identifying themselves as law enforcement officers. The caller sounds professional and urgent, often referencing a “failure to appear,” missed jury duty, or a pending warrant. In the scam we were alerted to today, the caller even sent an image via text that appears to be an official arrest warrant to make the situation seem legitimate. They then claim that to avoid immediate arrest, you must pay a bond or security amount right away — often directing you to make payment over the phone or through a third-party service.
This is a scam. Courts do not call to demand payment, and law enforcement does not collect fines or bonds over the phone or through third parties. You will never be instructed to send money to avoid arrest. If you receive one of these calls, hang up immediately, do not provide personal or financial information, and contact your local Clerk of Superior Court or law enforcement agency directly using an official published phone number to verify any claim.
