🧠💜 What is the CART Fund? 💜🧠

The Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust (CART) Fund is a grassroots Rotary initiative dedicated to funding cutting-edge research to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. The best part? Every dollar donated goes directly to research grants because Rotarians cover all administrative costs.

Why does it matter? Alzheimer’s impacts millions of individuals and families, including many right here in our community. By supporting CART, you are investing in hope, scientific discovery, and a future free from this devastating disease.

How can you help?
🪙 Drop your spare change in the CART bucket
💵 Make a personal or business contribution
🤝 Sponsor a research grant through Rotary
📣 Help spread awareness throughout Statesville and Iredell County

The Rotary Club of Statesville is proud to support the CART Fund. Together, even small contributions can make a big difference in the search for a cure.

💙 Together, we are making a difference—one coin, one donation, and one breakthrough at a time.

📜 Rotary Club of Statesville History Spotlight

Did you know that one of the Rotary Club of Statesville’s most significant community projects was the creation of the Rotary Auditorium at Mitchell College?

In 1966, under the leadership of then-President Dr. Hanna Kutteh, Rotarians raised approximately $75,000 to furnish and equip the new auditorium located within Mitchell College’s library building. This remarkable investment reflected Rotary’s commitment to education, community partnerships, and creating spaces where learning and civic engagement could flourish.

The Rotary Auditorium has served generations of students, educators, and community members, and Rotary has continued to support updates and improvements to the facility over the years.

As we look back at this piece of our club’s history, we’re reminded that the impact of Rotary extends far beyond a single meeting or project. The vision and generosity of Rotarians from decades ago continue to benefit our community today.

📰 Blast from the Past!

This newspaper article from May 1, 1996, celebrated the 75th Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Statesville and traced our history all the way back to 1921.

The article highlights some fascinating moments from our club’s early years. Rotary was organized in Statesville in 1921 with 22 charter members and met at various locations around town before eventually settling into a regular meeting place. The article also notes the club’s long tradition of community service, from supporting local projects and youth programs to helping establish traditions that continue today.

One of the most recognizable legacies mentioned is the Rotary Farmers Market. In 1974, Rotarians helped create what would become a beloved Statesville tradition. More than 50 years later, the Rotary Farmers Market remains a gathering place that connects local farmers, artisans, and neighbors while supporting our community.

The article also celebrates Rotary’s commitment to youth through scholarships, leadership opportunities, and educational programs, as well as the many civic improvements and community partnerships that Rotarians championed throughout the decades.

As we read about our history, we’re reminded that Rotary has always been about bringing people together to serve others, strengthen our community, and create lasting impact. While much has changed since 1921, our commitment to service above self—and today, Unity for Good—remains as strong as ever.

Do you recognize any names, stories, or memories from this piece of Rotary history? We’d love to hear them!

🔔 Blast from the Past! 🔔

While looking through some Rotary Club of Statesville memorabilia, we came across two special pieces of our club’s history.

The first is a Record & Landmark article from December 2020 featuring Rotary Club members serving as bell ringers for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign. Even during a difficult season, Rotarians stepped up to support our community and help those in need.

The second is an old Rotary Club of Statesville exchange flag, the type traditionally presented when visiting other Rotary clubs. These flags serve as symbols of friendship, fellowship, and the worldwide connections that make Rotary a truly global organization.

It’s fun to look back and remember the many ways our club has served both locally and internationally through the years. The faces, projects, and traditions may change, but our commitment to service remains the same.

Do you have a favorite Rotary memory from the past? We’d love to hear it!

Today the Rotary Club of Statesville celebrated the official induction of six of our newest members: Michelle Selvey, Lucas Morrow, Viviana Faxon, AJ Kerley, David Loflin, and Callie Farmer. 🎉

While each of these Rotarians has already been welcomed into our club and has been actively participating in Rotary, we waited to hold their formal induction ceremony until their framed membership certificates and Four-Way Test displays were ready.

It was a special opportunity to recognize their commitment to Rotary and to celebrate the gifts, talents, and servant leadership they bring to our club. Rotary is stronger because of dedicated members who are willing to invest their time and energy in making our community and world a better place.

Congratulations, Michelle, Lucas, Viviana, AJ, David, and Callie! We are grateful you are part of the Rotary Club of Statesville and look forward to serving alongside you for many years to come.
