This is what happens when strategy meets action!

| Johnston County Public Schools is proud to be ranked 29th out of 115 school districts in North Carolina based on its overall performance composite, placing JCPS among the top-performing districts in the state.

The district’s goal, as laid out in the Strategic Plan, is to be ranked in the top 20% in the district. The performance demonstrated by JCPS during the 2025-2026 continues a positive move in that direction.

Way to go JCPS!

There’s something powerful about bringing educators together to learn, collaborate, and prepare to lead the work in their own schools.

Our 😭 — Training of Trainers — focuses on building the capacity of district and building-level teams to effectively implement RtI! for MTSS data and documentation.

This training brought together teams from Johnston County Public Schools, Iredell-Statesville Schools, Catawba County Schools, Davie County Schools, and Darlington County School District. We’re grateful for the conversations, questions, and commitment each team brought to the room!

It’s not just about having the tools. It’s about building the capacity to use them effectively.

That’s exactly what Johnston County has been preparing to do. With RtI! supporting their MTSS data and documentation and our Classroom Walkthrough Tool helping strengthen implementation effectiveness, they’re investing in systems that support the work happening every day in their schools.

Building leaders trained in July, followed by MTSS coordinators and coaches in August—a strategic rollout designed to prepare teams before teachers returned.

The goal behind it all? Stronger implementation, supported educators, and ensuring every child gets the very best, every day.

We’ve seen a lot of situations in schools — and we could sit and talk about them all day. But we don’t want to be the only ones talking.

We want educators asking questions. We want real scenarios brought to the table. We want conversations about what’s working, what isn’t, and what students actually need.

Because sometimes the most valuable part of professional learning isn’t the answer someone gives you — it’s the conversation that helps you get there.

We had a wonderful time at Darlington County School District’s Leadership Retreat connecting with educators who are passionate about the work happening throughout their schools and committed to continuing to move their district forward.

Is your schedule actually built to support MTSS?

Because MTSS requires more than good intentions. Teams need dedicated time for intervention, progress monitoring, collaboration, and looking at evidence together.
