Please join Sheriff Darren Campbell in congratulating Jonah Wood on his promotion to Detective with the Criminal Investigations Division!

Wood began his career with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office in June 2022 after completing Basic Law Enforcement Training at Mitchell Community College. He began his career in Patrol before joining the COPS Unit in 2024.

During his time with the Sheriff’s Office, Wood has earned his Field Training Officer certification, received the Bill Wood Award in 2023, and was recognized as the Farm Bureau Deputy of the Month in December 2024.

In his new role, Wood will take on additional responsibilities investigating criminal cases and working alongside other detectives.

Congratulations, Detective Wood, on this well-earned promotion!

The Fall Citizens Academy starts in just a few days! 👀

There’s still time to sign up and get a behind-the-scenes look at the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Classes begin Tuesday, September 15 at 6:00 p.m. Throughout the academy, you’ll get an inside look at K-9, CSI, Narcotics, Lake Patrol, take a tour of the Iredell County Detention Center, and more.

Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00–8:00 p.m., but don’t let a busy schedule keep you from signing up! You’re not required to attend every class — just come to as many as your schedule allows.

On September 11, 2001, our nation experienced a tragedy that forever changed the lives of countless Americans.

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families who never got to say goodbye, and the survivors who carry the memories of that day with them still.

We honor the firefighters, law enforcement officers, first responders, military members, and ordinary citizens who ran toward danger, helped strangers, and showed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable loss.

Twenty-five years later, we also remember the unity that followed—a nation that stood together, supported one another, and refused to let tragedy define our spirit.

May we never forget those we lost.
May we never forget those who answered the call.
May we never forget September 11, 2001.

Deputy Gregory doesn’t just work at Cool Spring Elementary School — he is part of the school family. Moments like these give students a chance to laugh, have fun, and get to know the deputy they see in their school each day.

Those everyday interactions help build trust and create strong relationships between our SROs and the students they serve.

Please join Sheriff Darren Campbell in welcoming our newest Detention Deputy, Adolfo Mundo, to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office!

Mundo comes to the Sheriff’s Office with prior service in the National Guard and recently completed Basic Law Enforcement Training, preparing him for the next step in his law enforcement career.

We are excited to have Detention Deputy Mundo join our team and wish him the best as he begins his career with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office!

A traffic stop turned into a foot pursuit after deputies located methamphetamine and other narcotics.

Deputy J. R***r with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office ACE Team quickly caught the suspect a short distance away and took him into custody.

The suspect now faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges and was issued no bond.

As summer begins to wind down and we enjoy some of the final days of warm weather, we also take time to recognize what Labor Day represents and honor the hardworking men and women throughout Iredell County.

Whether your weekend includes time on the lake, a cookout, the fair, or simply spending time with family and friends, make safety part of your plans.

The Iredell County Fair is now open, and you’ll see plenty of familiar faces from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office throughout the week.

Deputies and deputy explorers will be at the fair every night, so be sure to stop by our booth and say hello! Members of our SERT team will also be set up near the BearCat, giving you a chance to check it out up close and meet some of the deputies behind the gear.

The fair runs today through Saturday, September 12, with gates opening at 5:00 p.m. today.

Thank you to Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy for inviting Deputy Welborn and Canine Tito to visit with the kindergarten class today!

This group of young learners was excited to talk with Deputy Welborn, ask plenty of fun questions, and learn a little more about what she and Tito do. Of course, they were even more excited to get the chance to pet Tito!

Please join Sheriff Darren Campbell in welcoming Deputy Vincent Quinones to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office as our newest School Resource Officer.

Deputy Quinones comes to the Sheriff’s Office with nearly eight years of law enforcement experience, having served with the Davidson Police Department as both a patrol and traffic officer. He completed Basic Law Enforcement Training at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College in 2018, earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice in 2021, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency and Disaster Management from Western Carolina University in 2025.

Deputy Quinones has long wanted to serve as a School Resource Officer and will now take on that role at Coddle Creek Elementary, helping protect students and staff while building positive relationships with the kids he serves. We are excited to welcome him to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office!
