Bulloch County Schools Bulloch County Schools is an internationally accredited, public school system for Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade students.

We are located in Bulloch County in Southeast Georgia, 45 minutes from Savannah. Bulloch County Schools serves the public education needs of more than 11,000 Pre-Kindergarten - Twelfth Grade students across 15 campuses and four alternative learning programs. Statesboro Police Chief Mike Broadhead will be retiring on July 1st, following a successful nine-year tenure with the Statesboro Police Department and capping off a law enforcement career spanning more than 40 years. To find his successor, the city is partnering with Developmental Associates, the same executive search firm that was used to hire Chief Broadhead in 2017. Feedback gathered at this interactive session will directly shape the ideal candidate profile and guide the selection process.

Okay, so we want to be a kid again so we can adopt and read to a Dino!

Be sure to register for the Statesboro-Bulloch County Library’s Summer Reading Program then do the following:
- Complete the "Adopt a Dino" reading log.
- Choose a Dino
- Name your Dino
- Sign adoption papers
- Read to your Dino every day.

The Dino Adoption is for children ages 2–12 and will continue until all the available Dinos have a home.

The Bulloch County Literacy Council and Bulloch County Schools will host a series of Book Bus Stops this summer to encourage reading and provide free books for children. Any children are welcome to hop on the bus to select books to take home and keep.

Bulloch Solutions / Bulloch Telephone, a community literacy partner, will provide free popsicles to children at certain stops. Look for the asterisk (*) for these special stops.

If you miss the Book Bus stops, consider visiting one of our community's more than 50 reading nooks where children may also select books to keep. Find our Book Bus schedule, reading nook locations and more at bullochschools.org/read.

The Bulloch County Literacy Council is a collaborative group of educators, representatives from literacy organizations, business and civic organization leaders, and community volunteers. Its purpose is to sustain a community collaborative that works to increase Kindergarten readiness for students from birth through Pre-Kindergarten and to support the improvement of literacy levels for all children in Kindergarten through fifth grade.

The Literacy Council's Bulloch READ initiative does the following:
📚Reading: Encourages the creation of Reading nooks.
📚Environment: Encourage a literacy-rich environment.
📚Access: Increase Access to book and reading resources.
📚Development: Increase early brain Development.

Our 2025-2026 Bulloch County Teacher of the Year Alison Hardin of Brooklet Elementary School is winding down her year of honor and service by attending the annual Georgia Teacher of the Year Conference & Gala at the Georgia Aquarium’s Oceans Ballroom in Atlanta.

After attending the conference’s professional development and networking opportunities, tonight she and her husband, Dustin, will enjoy tonight’s Gala, where she will be recognized as Bulloch County’s top educator. She will also get to see the state reveal the 2027 Georgia Teacher of the Year.

Thank you, Mrs. Hardin for being an exceptional teacher for our students, a leader, and a mentor to our new teachers. We are proud of you and your service.
