No burn permits will be issued today. Notice has been issued by Georgia Forestry commission.

Due to severe weather with high winds, Echols County citizens should be finishing their storm preparations at this time. Please be advised that the Fire Department will not be responding to any calls during peak wind and bad weather times. Everyone should stay indoors and shelter in place in a sturdy structure also monitor weather and alerts Please do not drive around during or immediately after as roads may be impassable. A reminder that power crews will also not be out until conditions improve.
